Victoria YWH (Inner Harbour) would probably be down the same as YYJ - but will be about 0 for April as there are no flights to Vancouver or Seattle out of downtown this month.

So does that leave Helijet as the only downtown-downtown operation just now.

International flights are still operating. The restrictions are on who is permitted to be on the aircraft. Basically people returning home essential travel.

If you show up at the airport without one, CATSA will be handing them out at security.

Being getting notices for the airlines I normally fly. Fist Air, AC with this new rule and procedures. Have some mask on order, but does not look like I will be flying anytime soon. Its also easier to drive.

That being said. Another reserve I have a project at just sent through new procedures.

(if you are not a band member and are coming to visit family, if it is not an emergency your are turned away.
If you are a contractor you will be issued a red permit to state your business and projected time on the FN.
If you are passing through you are issued a green pass to hand in at the exiting check point.
You are stopped going on to and off FN land. )

WestJet has suspended a number of domestic routes in addition to all international routes until June 4:

The CEO of the London Ontario airport was on the radio today, talking about the masks and other issues. He mentioned that it's not policy that CATSA gives out masks. He said "It's the passenger's responsibility to bring one, but if they don't have one, and if we do, we will give them one, but like everyone else, supplies are hard to come by and it's not the airport's responsibility to give them out". Not that they should have an issue, as he said that instead of the usual 2500 or so passengers a day, we are down to one flight on WestJet, to Toronto, that quite often gets cancelled because of low loads, and when it does operate, usually has 15-20 people on it.

AC joins WS in completely suspending all Transborder flights from April 26-May 22. All flights now between Canada & the US will be on US Carriers now (just AA & DL).

I was at work last night and was surprised to see Flair at YUL with 2 B738s. One of them has been doing daily runs to MEX and back the last few days.

It begs the question 'Why?', especially with Flair.

I should have asked the pilot. If i talk to them tonight, I'll ask.

My gut says they are charters to bring in field workers from Mexico. It's the time of year where agricultural companies need man power. Either that, or its Mexican repatriation flights.

My gut also. Are Airlines really expecting to ramp up flights in June? Seems that people won't travel much this year.

Another one did YUL-GUA for a few days.

Spoke to the pilot earlier. He confirmed that it's to pick up seasonal workers. They will fly them back to MEX in a few months.

YFB had an interesting visitor come in yesterday - an ATI B757 Combi from BWI.

The first of the country's 'Big 8' airports has reported their March stats. YOW's March pax stats are about what I expected:

Sector / Mar-19 / Mar-20 / % Change
Dom: 317,336 / 168,752 / -46.8%
TB: 79,628 / 36,820 / -53.8%
Int'l: 65,995 / 34,977 / -47.0%
TTL: 462,959 / 240,549 / -48.0%

Sector / YTD 2019 / YTD 2020 / % Change
Dom: 867,350 / 737,831 / -14.9%
TB: 214,426 / 162,030 / -24.4%
Int'l: 189,431 / 168,382 / -11.1%
TTL: 1,271,207 / 1,068,243 / -16.0%

12 Months Rolling / % Change vs Year End 2019
Dom: 3,864,034 / -3.5%
TB: 633,901 / -12.1%
Int'l: 405,588 / +4.6% - The fact that this is still positive just goes to show what a great year this was going to be for YOW
TTL: 4,903,523 / -4.06%

April is where we'll see the 95% drop! I put April's over/under total at 25,000.

hollywoodcory Apr 24, 2020 7:20 PM

Saw an AeroMexico 737 land at YYC this morning. Didn't go to a gate, so I'm going to assume for cargo purposes? It was nice to see a foreign tail again.

Next planned international flight is still May 24, but doubtful. Only 12x weekly flights to the US for most of May.
