With Italy imposing a travel ban nationwide, it’s very likely WS will cancel FCO altogether for summer 2020.

Quantas has cut 30% of flights and Ryan air is cutting more.

With Italy on lockdown, I'd expect tonight to be the last AC flights to FCO.

AC890 to YYZ-FCO and will return AC893 to FCO-YUL.

AC zeroed out YUL-FCO for tomorrow, but other than that no schedule changes yet. I'm hearing WS might delay YYC-FCO to June, but they may not make a decision until early to mid April.

It doesn't work, and that is the point. This is effectively a ban on incoming passengers who do not live in Israel.

I prepared an article with some rare images of Canada's major airports in the 1960s. It's a two-parter and features Calgary, Edmonton, Gander, Halifax and Montreal.

On top of Rome as of now, I wouldn't be surprised to see AC drop Venice.

The impact on Canada not be understated. Basically all travel between continental Europe and the US will be transiting through the UK or Canada.

Sounds like Cargo flights have also been banned for 30 days.

Sounds like it's more a targeted travel ban based on who you are or where you are coming from. I don't think transiting the UK or Canada is going to work. Americans will still be able to travel back to the US. A question will be what flights will still be operating.

The US will not admit any EU citizens for 30 days - even if they try to transit through Canada or UK. US citizens can repatriate but may have to quarantine.

India has also stopped issuing travel visas - so no one in. Not sure if that has been mentioned.

The wording is any one who has been in the Schengen Area in the previous 14 days. The only exception are US nationals or residents.

That in itself does not eliminate flights between continental Europe and the US. It however removes demand for those routes and eliminates continental Europe as a transit point between the US and a host of other countries. In short order the European and US airlines will start to cancel flights. That least the UK and Canada as the major transit point.

I don't think it is a ban on EU citizens. Reading the rules, for example, someone on a French passport would be permitted to enter the US if they spent the previous 14 days in Canada or the UK.

You bet you bippy it is, and they have given broad powers to HS.

They are trying to stop the spread.

Pretty poor way to do that when it's already running rampant through the US untested.
