With Italy imposing a travel ban nationwide, it’s very likely WS will cancel FCO altogether for summer 2020. |
Quantas has cut 30% of flights and Ryan air is cutting more.
|
With Italy on lockdown, I'd expect tonight to be the last AC flights to FCO.
AC890 to YYZ-FCO and will return AC893 to FCO-YUL. |
AC zeroed out YUL-FCO for tomorrow, but other than that no schedule changes yet. I'm hearing WS might delay YYC-FCO to June, but they may not make a decision until early to mid April.

I wish Wikipedia had a diagram that clear and informative for every airport... |
Some Air Canada news:
1. AC cancels order for 11 737MAX (I assume those are the MAX9s) https://www.reuters.com/article/us-b...-idUSKBN20Y2B7 2. AC to suspend service to Medicine Hat and "3 other communities" indefinitely from Apr 1 https://medicinehatnews.com/news/loc...-medicine-hat/ |
I wonder which other cities were dropped? The flights are still available to book on AC's website?

Also, US just banned all traffic to/from Europe (except UK) altogether. There goes the entire TATL market.... |
Canada's airports in the early Jet Age
Hi folks,
I prepared an article with some rare images of Canada's major airports in the 1960s. It's a two-parter and features Calgary, Edmonton, Gander, Halifax and Montreal. You can read it here: https://www.airporthistory.org/photo...jet-age-1.html Did you know that Montreal Dorval's passenger terminal was the biggest in the world when it opened in 1960? Many other interesting facts and factoids in the article. Part 2, to be launched soon, will feature Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg. I tried to see if this had been posted already. I couldn't find it but feel free to delete this post if it was. |

And if things get worse in France, YUL is screwed. Quote:
Does the ban come into effect if a pax gets rerouted DCA-YUL-CDG, or FRA-YYZ-LAX |

Sounds like Cargo flights have also been banned for 30 days. |
Sounds like it's more a targeted travel ban based on who you are or where you are coming from. I don't think transiting the UK or Canada is going to work. Americans will still be able to travel back to the US. A question will be what flights will still be operating.

India has also stopped issuing travel visas - so no one in. Not sure if that has been mentioned. |

https://www.dhs.gov/news/2020/03/11/...l-proclamation That in itself does not eliminate flights between continental Europe and the US. It however removes demand for those routes and eliminates continental Europe as a transit point between the US and a host of other countries. In short order the European and US airlines will start to cancel flights. That least the UK and Canada as the major transit point. I don't think it is a ban on EU citizens. Reading the rules, for example, someone on a French passport would be permitted to enter the US if they spent the previous 14 days in Canada or the UK. |
