SSP Sketchup Voting: Observation Tower
Well this wasn't the best competition of all time but we got some pretty good designs. We only got four entries but what the heck...
1.-Tower 76 Tower 76 would have been constructed in 1976 and opened on July 4th, America's Bicentennial. The tower rises 797 feet, Baltimore was incorporated in 1797. The small base houses several various tourist shops and the main lobby. At 576 feet you get a breathtaking view of Baltimore, the very top floor is home to a private ballroom used for parties and other formal events, the roof of the observation floors can be used for these events, although it dose get a bit windy up there. The tower would be the tallest structure in Baltimore but at 797 feet it doesn't rise too high to overwhelm the surrounding skyscrapers. In 1983 a nearby Hilton Hotel would be built to compliment the tower. Being 1983 the building is very postmodern, the first three floors house a large shopping mall while the rest of the buildings 24 floors are used for hotel space with a large atrium in between. http://i42.tinypic.com/o85bmf.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/jhc3f6.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/2d2druu.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/10r8k1i.jpg http://i44.tinypic.com/2ywv5a1.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/9vhbwx.jpg 2.- Untitled Here's my entry for the observation tower competition. Simple tower with the height of 565 ft ( 200 m). The base holds a space for exhibitions and that kind of stuff. The observation deck has two stories. Here's the picture that shows it all http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3544/...2555f880_o.jpg 3.- Untitled here is my tower http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...iontower3a.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...iontower3b.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...iontower3c.jpg http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...iontower3d.jpg 4.-Tower of Angels In 1980's the Tower of Angels was proposed in LA. Planned to be built outside of Yankee stadium, it fell through because of poor financing and the threat posed by Earthquakes, and was replaced by a parking lot. Google earth overhead view http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...n5555/toa1.jpg Since google earth left little black spot everywhere this are just plain SU shots. Full view http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...ro1fangels.jpg Observation deck is multileveled, includes an outdoor area, revolving restraunt and interesting facts and memoriablia from LA and the Dodgers. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...n5555/toa3.jpg Entry area has the Elevators, multi-story atrium with a photagraphy museam and stuff. Hahahaha!
Honestly, I thought about entering and starting getting ideas, but once I started...well, let's just say observation towers are not my forte. :( I voted for no. 1, because it looks great, looks realistic, and it's in a great location. My second choice was no. 2, very well done! Anthony |
I wish that I had entered this one... But my s/u skillz suck. I'm no good at this texturing and rendering stuff.
