MONTREAL | Tour des Canadiens | 165 M / 541 FT | 50 FLOORS | U/C

Cadillac Fairview is working on a new project, similar to Air Canada Center area in Toronto. Construction is scheduled to start in 2012.

A 27-storey office tower on St. Antoine with 500,000 square feet of rental space. To make way for it, a seven-storey 1950s building would be demolished on St. Antoine. Known as the Canadian Pacific accounting building, it is adjacent to Windsor Station. Unlike Windsor Station, it is not a designated heritage building. Cadillac Fairview has begun pre-leasing for the new glass tower and it could be occupied as early as mid-2014, Iacono said.

A condo complex with a total of about 710 units, spread over three towers. Two would be about 44 storeys each, at Mountain St. and Montreal Canadiens Ave., currently the site of Centennial Plaza. Commemorating the Canadiens’ 100th anniversary, the plaza, owned by Cadillac Fairview, features bronze statues of four Habs greats and personalized bricks purchased by fans.

The third would be about 25 storeys high but that includes the already-constructed 10-floor office building on which the condo structure would be erected.

Seems like a sure fire money maker for CF

Here's a more recent rendering that correctly shows the 44-floors of the residential towers.

We also have the official height of the 27-storey office building: 133m.

For now, our best guess regarding the height of the residential towers is 140m.

Awesome. I remember the original plans for what became the Molson (later Bell) Centre involved foundations for future skyscrapers of 40+ storeys, but only the stub one was ever built.
This is a huge commercial development for Montreal; perhaps the biggest since Place Desjardins in the 1970s.

As I said in related thread.

Wow. Amazing infill. Love to see how it will transform the lovely windsor station glass-ceiling space.

Dinu Bumbaru of Heritage Montreal said Cadillac Fairview should try to incorporate the CP accounting building into the St. Antoine tower. Though not as historically or architecturally significant as Windsor Station, the building is solidly built and is part of the city's history, Bumbaru said.

Return of the Dinusaur.

Cataclaw Apr 5, 2011 10:40 PM

Oh please, that building has zero value. It's run down and of no particular historical value.

Bumbaru won't win this one.

Bell Center tower Update

62 floors ~190m - 200m

Sometimes an old 7 story building needs to bite the dust to make way for progress.

But when there's a whole block of surface parking directly across the street it is not one of those times, however.

Alexcaban Oct 6, 2011 2:46 AM

MONTREAL | Tour Avenue des Canadiens | 197m | 61 FLOORS

Dylan Leblanc Oct 12, 2011 6:14 PM

Is there an official height now??

LeftCoaster Oct 12, 2011 7:02 PM

^Yes and no, the project is seeking approval to build up to 197m, but the final height has not been settled upon by the developer.

197m will do for now, we can keep our fingers crossed the market can support the building up to its full height.

Montreal breaks into the 60's. Which incidentally, were the best decade for good ol' Montreal
