Your ideal city
 

If you could take the "best" attributes of different cities to make your ideal city, what would those cities and their attributes be?

If Pittsburgh (with more racial diversity and hotter women) was in the Caribbean, I’d be pretty happy.

Chicago skyline+lakefront parks/beaches
Tokyo transit
NYC neighborhood density
Boston history
LA weather
San Francisco topography
Miami women

Now that's a city...

San Francisco, but with Los Angeles' culinary offerings. That would make me a happy camper.

Brooklyn, NY with San Diego weather.

Tokyo's Metro system
Tokyo's neighborhoods(like single family homes)
Boston Row homes or Phillies...like the older ones with tiny roads. Jesus those are nice.
Chicago Skyline
L.A weather
Austin women
Hong Kong setting

Seattle with Portland's parks and culture and a Mediterranean climate.

St Louis without all the decay and crime. And a little bit more snow.

Madrid but in Barcelona's location, with Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill next to Chueca and the Sonoma Valley just outside the city. Heaven (chef's kiss).

LA with Tokyo transit.

In terms of cities that I would actually be able to afford:

St. Louis with Shanghai scale.

SF in its current location, with HK's skyscrapers, Singapore's MRT, Hawaii's beaches, and LA's weather. Oh, and pull the Sierra's about 2 hours closer.

somehow build early 00s portland between portland and sf. or better yet, some kind of hybrid san francisco/ portland in far northern california....super eureka.

Super Eureka would be pretty neat, but maybe with a bit more sunshine.

my ideal city already exists. toronto! gritty, watery, shiny, midwesty, international, canadian, snowy, flat, but wild and awesome at the same time......alas dirty americans are not invited.....

Detroit ca. 1945.

The population of greater Tokyo at 35,000,000 or whatever. Plunked where Seattle's central-most 2,000,000 are. But subtract January and add another July.

Topography of Pittsburgh.

Built environment/walkability of Philadelphia.

Climate of San Diego.

Diversity of Jersey City.

A more dense cosmopolitan Miami in a Florida that at least have hills like the Caribbean with it's classical wetlands. It would not be as threatened by sea level rise if this was so. Plus, it would increase the natural beauty of the city even more.


A more modern looking Havana with more art deco and early 20th century architecture like Bauhaus, streamline moderne, etc with traditional Southern, Caribbean, and Latin American styles. A history that goes farther back to the Reconstruction era with more of a chance of having an extensive prewar landscape.


A tropical brother to the dense northern cities in the same way LA and SF are Mediterranean climate cousins to the same group. Possibly a Tropical Chicago in built design but possibly denser because it would have been geographically limited between the ocean and the Everglades.

It's a vision I've always had. Such a loss in potential historically. It would have been crucial since it could have allowed the US to have better connections with Latin America.



Since I live in California now, I guess I would want LA to be a megacity in the vein of Tokyo or Sao Paulo.

Coruscant with good Mexican food and an NHL team.

A Los Angeles in which every citizen shares the same passion/obsession to improve it as I do, and are willing to go to great length$ to do so.
