This one is definitely developing a presence … those unaware likely thinking what exactly is this tower and why does it keep going given the specs.

Looks like this is around the 650-670' mark. Just eyeing it. Fast approaching the Cityspire Center. Hopefully by the end of February it will be at 50-55% of the total height.

The City!

haha its like a stealth tower in those views.

which is a good metaphor for the surprize people are going to have when it jumps past its neighbors.

^^^^

I just keep looking at 432 Park, and keep thinking... damn... we have three towers rising that are taller. And 432 Park is ridiculously overpowering. Not only that, but the aspect ratio on Steinway is even more radical. Give it like 7 months or Q3, for it to really make an impression.

While its my opinion that CPT is the lackluster sibling compared to its peers rising along this corridor, the monolithic size is to be envied. I mean, just look at 432 Park pictured above to make a mental image of how it will appear dominance wise.

How many floors does this one rise in a week?

I went back and compared pics since August and it was averaging 5 floors a month.

Based on the blueprints, the first setback occurs 9 floors above the latest mechanical floors and that is the exact floor they are on now. So the next form shift should reveal the first setback.

^Only 5 floors a month? Just over a floor a week seems slow. I'd have to imagine pace would be quicker if it were a union job!

chris08876 Feb 3, 2018 12:35 AM

Its on track. JDS states early occupancy in 2019.

4-5 floors give or take is still sweet. Given the nature of such a tower, no complaints from me. Its not 19 Park Place (which is a slender), which is a 19 floor tower that has taken 6+ years to rise. Now... that is nail-biting, and not in a good way.

I was reading an article the other day how when Cityspire was completed the shape of the dome created a loud whistling sound due to wind drafting through the crown. This went on for a year driving the residents insane before they removed every other piece of the crown cancelling the wind effect. One of those the more you know useless pieces of information.

It might just be the picture, but I think We're starting to see the soft "zebra" patterning on the east and west facades :-)

I can't see what you are describing. First I've heard of "zebra patterning" as well.

But when I look at the east west facades something does happen : :slob::slob:

As the terracotta fills the East/West sides of the tower, and its a bright day with such lighting conditions such as in the rendering above, we may see this effect.

Right now its gloomy, rainy, and overcast... has been for the last couple of days. Spring time might be it. When the light changes from that faded yellow to a more blooming light.
