New Port of Portland Headquarters Rendering
Pretty nice. I like the scale. The glass facade looks very intricate. It's rare these days that civic buildings are so elaborate. What's that big thing soaring on the left-center of the picture though?
Looks like a good start ...
... for the office. Seems to have a overlap look. The white tower in the image is the lower section of the FAA Control Tower.

I like it.
Agreed, nice structure.
Nice! Very nice. Glad they got creative with it.. their current building is kind of odd.
yikes, reminds me of ALB (Albany, New York) airport. Renderings were great, but the outcome was pretty boring and bland.
Well, most of that IS a parking garage.
Very nice!
Nice facade on the garage, but the office portion looks like an afterthought. Hopefully the final product looks a bit more seamless.
whats the exterior? are the openings clear glass and the rest of it tinted glass or are the openings glass and the rest of it a metal skin?
I doubt there's any glass on the garage, too hard to keep clean. The skin is probably some kind of perforated metal, like on the tram, and the openings are, well, openings.
^so in essence this could turn out looking like a big tin shed?
No, no, no. Of course not.
It'll look like a really, really big tin shed.... with a penthouse. |
Good grief, can this forum go a day without being so frackin' negative? Do you really think the Port would design/build their headquarters at the airport and make it look like a "big tin box" after all the great design work that went into the terminal and concourses? :koko:
do we know who is designing it? ZGF?
Um, I was being sarcastic. I actually like the metal skin.
For the record I was being sarcastic too. Having not seen more details about the materials, or a better rendering, I have no idea if it will be a tin shed or something fantastic. Considering it is a disputed public project, it is possible they've cheapend the materials to justify adding the new Port HQs on top.
