WS appears to have cut YHZ-BOS in June.

AC has always been the dominant carrier between YHZ and BOS....and this summer there will be more options from YHZ to the US with UA upgaugeing to Mainline to EWR and adding ORD and AA is back with flights to PHL and LGA. DL will also have flights to LGA.

Seems like AC is now starting to remove MAX from July schedule, starting from YVR-HNL/OGG.

Also, YYT/YHZ-LHR is now almost completely cancelled until July 1st.

I would not be surprised if those flights are the last to come back.

They require ETOPS certified aircraft. I could the aircraft restricted to routes near diversion airports for the first period of reintroduction.

The MCAS issue has no implication on the aircarfts' ETOPS certification.

Once the Max is back in service, it will be able to operate all the previous routes it was planned to operate for AC, including to Europe and Hawaii.

Once the groundstop is lifted, you can expect all of AC's 24 birds to be operational pretty quickly. The only limiting factor is if AC is able to get all those 737 pilots through the simulator in time. Considering they own 2, it shouldn't be a problem.

They couldn't make YUL-BOS work, so YHZ-BOS getting the chop was a matter of time as well, especially now that oil price is rebounding.

My YEG-YYZ flight in June got Rouged unfortunately. 3 out of 6 flights are Rouged that day which kind of sucks as there isn't much of an option to get a better flight time. The return leg on July 13 still shows multiple 737 Max operating the route. I am wondering when AC's July schedule will be updated taking out the 737 Max from the schedule. Anyone have insight on this? Alternatively anyone in the know about how the "fix" is coming to the Max so AC and WS can resume their flights?

According to some news sources, there will be a global panel to review the 737 MAX fix and certification starting Apr 29, and the process expect to last for 90 days. If that's the case, the earliest would be 90 days from next week... so July 29th at least?

I think at this rate, the MAX is probably going to be grounded for the entire summer...

WS is also hosting a ceremony to open the new 787 Hangar in YYC, although I believe they have already been using it since the beginning of April.

It will be an interesting summer then. My first flight is mid-June. The 3 out of 6 daily flights that are Rouged are all 767's. Perhaps there is some slack in the summer Rouge flights to BUD, WAW, ATH etc. where you can use the Rouge 767's on domestic flights but this is probably not the case in July and August. Hopefully AC has enough capacity but then again maybe the load factor will just be around 100% on most of their domestic flights based on whatever aircraft is left.

Well, this week's schedule update for July:

YVR-HNL/OGG will be run with mainline 763, still 4 or 3x weekly (I assume that's the one planned to be retired?)
YYZ/YUL-KEF will continue be run with Rouge 319
YUL-PTP/FDF will continue be run with Rouge 319
YVR/YEG-LAS reduction/suspension will continue through July
YYZ-OPO/OTP/TXL frequency reduction
YUL-PAP route suspension (this had been going on for a while, but now they are finally removed from schedule)

This reduction and suspension free up 1 Rouge 767 it seems...

Coincidentally with the revisions mentioned above the mid-July YYZ-YEG flights have all been converted to a mix of 319/320/321 aircraft and the one mainstay daily mainline 767 flight. It would be interesting to know how they managed to replace 6 daily Max flights from YEG (and 13 daily Max flights from YYC) with the 320 family. I mean something's gotta give right? Were there tons of 320's due for retirement this year?

Because of the grounding of the 737 MAX until at least august 1st now by Transport Canada.

YUL-BOD was never planned 7x weekly for summer 2019. It was planned 4x weekly with the MAX 8, so 3x weekly with the 767 is pretty good.
