Via jeddy1989. We paid a fortune for that CAT III landing system - hopefully it actually works.

It's not even that bad by our standards:

200m visibility is right near the line for CAT III.

Like i said a while back, a lot of operators aren't even CAT II certified, much less CAT III, so not everyone will be able to benefit from this. Most regionals and feeders fall in this category.

Quebec is sending 4 CL-415s over to Alberta. They are enroute now. YQB-YHD-YXE-YLB.

They left YHD and are around Winnipeg now.

Another great month of PAX growth for YVR in March - lead by strong domestic growth:

Total PAX: 1,782,574 +7.9% (up from 1,652,210 in Mar 15)

Domestic: 891,633 +10.0%
International: 890,941 +5.9%

Great numbers again.

The international growth looks like it fell off a cliff but in reality it was just transborder that got hammered. International actually grew 11% led by a 15% increase in traffic to Europe.

If this current growth rate continues YVR will skip right over 21 million PAX and end the year at 22 million. Pretty nuts.

SkahHigh May 6, 2016 6:40 PM

Wow, great growth for YVR.

Some shots of YUL today, around 3h30pm. I counted 18 widebodies in total, including 2 Indian Air Force C-17s parked at the de-icing pad.

Hey Nofly, were you working yesterday morning (11th)? If so, thanks for taking good care of my mom, she flew out on AC407.

G.S MTL May 12, 2016 8:42 PM

I wasn't working that day, no. I transferred from the ACC to the TWR recently. Still training. Will hit live traffic in approximately one and a half months.

Must be the first time a construction project in Quebec is completed within budget and 4 months ahead of schedule.

Some route cuts to the US.

AA terminates PHX-YYC
UA terminates YEG-ORD/SFO and YUL-IAH (latter taken over by AC)
DL terminates JFK-YHZ as of October and reduces JFK-YQB from 2 to 1 daily.
RV delays start of seasonal YYZ-HNL to December 25 and cuts its down to 1x weekly compared to 2x weekly last year (clearly a sign the route is struggling)
PD reduces PIT-YTZ to 1 daily during the summer.

Some good news too. AA increasing LAX-YVR to double daily in January, UA increasing DEN-YVR to 3 daily in October. Overall, huge cuts, especially from UA during the last 2 years.

I hear UA is also cutting IAH-LOS, meaning no more Africa service on their behalf. So that's 2 oil routes being cut.

Delta Airlines is pulling out of Regina completely in a few months. I think Saskatoon is soon after that as well. So Saskatchewan will no longer have any American Airlines flying into their main cities.

YXE-MSP (for now) is intact.

You're kidding! That's insanely inconvenient and will increase costs substantially. So the only YXE-DEN route will be via Calgary. Man, do i ever wish a Cdn airline would pick up the slack but doesn't look like it.
