^ Nice to see development continue Uptown. It seemed that there were a lot of stalled projects, and/or opposition to increased density in the area.

San Diego will unveil its Olympic bid on September 28th. Hopefully this comes together as it would be great for our city. http://sd2024ec.com/

I am glad to hear about 880 w Broadway. I hope whoever ends up with the site that it will end up with a stellar new design.

I quoted a UT story from last year that had this bit in it about 880 W Broadway, but removed it because it had nothing to do with the Irvine Company tower in UTC. Here's the quoted text.

"Bosa is also rumored to be in discussions with The Irvine Company to buy back the lot (currently approved for a future high-rise office tower) on the NE corner of PCH and Broadway (just south of The Grande) to develop another high-rise condo tower. Back in 2007, Bosa sold the site to Irvine for a reported $60 million. Irvine had planned to develop 880 West Broadway, a Pei designed 685,000 sf office tower – but the office leasing market has been too soft to support developing the project." |
My bad, I should've quoted the article.

I heard a ballpark figure of $10 billion for the Olympics. I just don't see this happening in this town considering how difficult it has been for the Chargers to find financing for a new stadium, the state of our current infrastructure is in disrepair and the public schools are an absolute mess right now. |

Not sure what the status of this project is, but here are more renderings of 11th and Broadway (twin 32 story towers, 623 units).

They should make one taller and thinner.
We have enough twin towers! |

Unfortunately, the Filner scandal would prevent any serious consideration of us. Ironically, Filner was promoting a bi-national Olympics with us and TJ. |
