Flights start in July

Abbotsford 3x weekly ($59 one way), Starts August 3rd
Halifax 4x weekly ($49 one way), Starts July 2nd
Toronto 1x daily ($49 one way), Starts July 1st
Vancouver 6x weekly ($59 one way), Starts July 1

I'm guessing some of the MAX deliveries got moved forward and they will base them out of YUL

Great to see from a competition and route option/planning when using that airline.:tup::tup:

Has AC completely cancelled YOW-LHR? Looks like it’s been removed completely including next winter?

Why? Because YVR is being bypassed?

WestJet has had no problem sustaining 8 daily YEG-YLW prior to the pandemic, adding Pentiction and Kamloops at twice weekly each seem like a natural addition. Same goes for Nanaimo, WestJet has always had 4x daily mainline service to the island from YEG (to YYJ and YQQ), this only seems natural.

No because some of these routes are not high demand from an airline point of view. They are doing this to utlize planes where they can right now, these are routes that wouldn't be added in nornal timnes, that's why... WS and AC have been around for this long, and the smaller city route pairings are not something they add often, or have much longevity. It has nothing to do with YVR, it is already connected to the places it should be. I am happy that smaller cities on the interior and island are getting more connections, not hating on that, just seems like a move that wouldn't hgave happened if demand wasn't decimated from COVID and they all of a sudden had a fleet that was hard to utilize

I would assume that it has been suspended for now due to the pandemic and international flights having to land at Canada's main 4 airports.

From recollection, it was discussed on the Ottawa-YOW forum that you could get a RT YOW-LHR ticket for sub $400 for the summer/fall. I imagine this was due to the way AC's booking machine works with ticket's purchased (or lack thereof). So if you jumped on this, when they cancelled the flight you would still be routed via YYZ/YUL for the same price. They probably zeroed out this flight for this reason and a few others.

I expect it to be back when demand is there. There is currently an extreme minimal demand out of YOW to anywhere. (6-8 flights per day).

Moved to 2nd daily YUL-LHR?

Can’t even fill 1x weekly YUL-LHR these days, let alone 2x daily. YOW, YHZ and YYT to LHR I’m sure will all be back in due time...even if it means temporarily putting the MAX on YOW-LHR while traffic rebounds. It’s clear that won’t be anytime soon, especially non-domestic. AC also have 41 daily domestic loaded out of YOW for summer 2021. If 1/2 that amount flies that would be something else.

Interesting. How’s Flair’s reliability and customer service vs other major canadian airlines? Fees are very affordable...

YYT / YHZ-LHR are both still loaded for next winter, YOW-LHR however has basically been totally removed. I'm kinda surprised that YYC-LHR is still scheduled from July for now.

It seems like AC / WS are mostly betting on high domestic travel this Summer basically almost completely writing off any hope of international recovery for now.

Looked at Flair's schedule out of YVR, seems like YUL service was planned long ago as there had always been a plane sitting on the ground from 10:30am, 6 days a week according to the previously published schedule. Maybe there's a hold up for them due to some requirements or making the French website...

No plane will be based in YUL it seems. The planes are based in YXX, YKF (YKF-YHZ-YUL-YHZ-YKF), YYZ, and YVR.

All YKF (and YOW) based planes are 738, while the others are MAX.

I was on one of their flights from Vancouver to Edmonton it was late. Everything was late. That flight, all flights operated by Flair. Some attempt was made to blame it on it being -30 C in Edmondon, however that should be expected. It was a terrible experience. However that is when they were running the 737-400. Many others had the same comments. They were on part with Swoop.

That said, since they switched to more modern aircraft and reworked their offering some people have reported dramatic improvements. They do offer some bundles that include nothing in the bundle, i.e., you pay extra for a boarding pass, carry on luggage etc. You want to be very careful to not end with one of those.

Coldrsx Mar 30, 2021 11:36 PM

Initially Flair was pretty poor with their everything... but it has improved considerably.

I'd be very surprised to see YHZ/YYT-LHR operate next winter, even if it's still currently loaded.

I'd only be worried about YOW-LHR if it's not loaded for IATA summer 2022...which won't be known for a while.

I made a mistake and saw YOW-LHR one-way for $300, and assumed it was just double for a round-trip. Turns out r/t is $816.

YUL-LHR is currently even cheaper for this summer at $290 one-way or $785 r/t...taxes in.

So in both cases more expensive on the way back.

Not surprising with the boarder closer for the forgeable future and Atlantics Canada is some bubble the main tourist attractions like Victoria, the Okanagan, and the Rockies (Calgary) should pickup travel.

I don't like either Swoop or Flair. Would have been better being WestJet instead of WestJet pretending to be Swoop.

Cargojet to operate 2 763s domestically exclusively for Amazon: https://cargojet.com/news/

I wonder what routes they’ll be deployed on? Cities like Ottawa that have Amazon fulfilment centres?
