You're entitled to disagree.

That little piece made it 15, but yeah. Difference of opinion is allowed.

If 1522" is indeed the final number for the curtain wall, the only real unknown is the final height of the spire... 1775', 1795' ...or maybe 1816' to pass the CN Tower?

The original spire height was 296' for the 1479 ft version. Keeping only the same spire height would give us 1822' making it the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere, and finally putting 1WTC's architecturally incomplete and therefore disqualified spantenna in its rightful place.

Why is it called Nordstrom

Pardon my ignorance, but why do we call this tower "Nordstrom"? Is it associated with Nordstrom stores? Or named after somebody? Who named it or in what document did that name show up? Is it what Extell named it? I see that many different news sites and fan sites call it Nordstrom.

Thanks for your help.

Nordstrom is the anchor tenant and so it bares the name in a publicity/marketing way of view. Sales wise for residential units, its marketed as 217 West 57th Street. For the public, its seen as Nordstrom. Its also a way to get publicity for the future store which will be very big. Will also be the first in NYC that's not a rack store for Nordstrom. A legit, pricey, Nordstrom store where one can buy a suit, put it on, and go meet socialites in the Plaza Bar (good location btw for "socializing").

Thanks! Yes, a Nordies on/in Manhattan would be most excellent.

But this spire is not that. This spire itself has multple setbacks, similar to the way the Empire State's spire rises into it's antenna.

whoa -- you broke my rubberband with that stretch! ;)

First tower crane is installed.

Also, the structure is almost reaching street level.

It's a pole of varying width.

At the site today. Nice to see 220 CPS above ground and I'm looking forward watching the Nordstrom play catch up. More photos from this am to add to the fine photos posted above.

Call me crazy, but I feel like 111 57th deserves the CPT title more. It really is the pinnacle, despite not being the tallest.

I can't wait to see Witkoff's plans for the Park Lane, which is THE premier site.

When it's complete, we will finally have the tallest roof in the nation!

Only question is: Why did it take so long?

TechTalkGuy Jun 30, 2015 4:24 AM

So, here it stands:

As the world's tallest residential tower.

Like I said, it's going to be the tallest:

Awesome towers indeed:

It's irrelevant, but that's not why builders build in established places.
