^ is this house-resort in NE of Brazil? It seems, cause this is the typical modernist style von Corbisier & Mies Van der Hoch influences of 60ies there, Niemeyer did most, copied by many architects until today to be seen in the so called 'minimalist Brazilian things' Am i right? For the beach i would say Bahia or Pernambuco, but then i am not sure. Since long time not been in those areas, really at least 25 years ;)

EDIT: For sure I was right: http://leonardofinotti.blogspot.com/...e-makenna.html

that was a good guess! I guess you could call it the NE. I'd only heard of Niemeyer but brazil seems to have lots of good architects. here's more info on that resort

That's not a house; That's an unrobed jawa stepping out of a sand crawler.

WAOH! That David Hovey house is stunning! beautiful, elegant, perfect harmony between metal, glass and wood.

This rustic retreat was built right in the heart of Three Rivers, California near the entrance to Sequoia National Park where the enchantment of wildlife sightings runs wild. What also happens to run wild is the river that flows under this home, something that has never been done before or ever since! Kaweah Falls was originally designed in the 1940′s by one of Frank Wright’s very own students, but when the second homeowners moved in and remodeled they decided to add an addition to the home that floats over the river bank.

Aside from a few cool interior features like a dining room with a glass floor view of the river, there is a footbridge over these waters that lead to a private deck where one can sit and listen to the sounds of fresh water skimming river rocks on the way down from a waterfall found right up the mountain. Choosing a vacation spot for these homeowners is definitely a tall order…but who would want to leave this place?

Now THAT'S a house I wouldn't mind!

this one isn't as impacting as those other homes but rather 'soft and light'.

it's so modern compared to the garden. heavenly. but i'd put a ultra-thin flat screen and in-wall surround sound speakers.

This house on an island looks straight out of a fairy tale. And 79 year old Boston Architect Henry Wood gets to call it his home. In 1961, Wood and his then wife, Joan bought the island home for a mere $3,600.

Situated on Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay in US, the house was built by Architect J.S. Lovering Wharton along with Artist William Trost Richards. The island home stands three storeys high, with a large centre hall and 23 rooms. The spacious house has its interiors done in wood keeping with the design of the original home. The house has 10 huge bedrooms, and it would be hard to find one without a view. You can make the Newport Bridge from the ping pong room. If you are friends with the Woods, you could be invited for the Clingstone memorial day when you get to clean one of the 65 windows!

Barker Residence by Davidclovers
October 24th, 2010

This staircase curls between two floors of an apartment designed by Hong Kong studio Davidclovers.

Called Barker Residence, the home commands a view over Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour.

Twisting and sloping walls join together storage, entertainment systems and a fireplace, with the floor and lower part of the walls finished in wood.
