This tower is officially 1,100 ft. and 86 floors per the developer.
245 condos, five floors of retail/commercial space. CetraRuddy is the architect so it will be glassy and probably angular. http://ny.curbed.com/archives/2016/0...ad_st.php#more |
Let's see what Shvo can deliver at 125 G. ;)

Awesome news!

Mods need to change this thread title to 1,100 ft/86 floors.

Funny though how in the mass diagrams (this is not the final design), it doesn't look tall with its surroundings. :haha: Can't help to feel the same way for WTC3. Just doesn't feel "tall". Spoiled I am. http://alamak.com.sg/i/SG/Yoda.gif |
New York City, you don't stop do you? No, you don't. They should go ahead and declare the district the Skyscraper National Park. Just when you think they can't squeeze any more in there, they go and do it again.
I wonder what will become of the 55 Broad proposal... http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=210050 Quote:

Now just work that placeholder diagram for 80 South Street, and the dynamic Downtown skyline will rival Midtown (north and west) for most iconic in this city of skylines.

rival Midtown by all means . . please . .
unfortunately from narrow but important angles . . often featured as favorite NYC postcard harbor-views of downtown . . this 1100 foot needle could block views of major focal-point landmarks . . obscuring 2 of the top 3 crowns downtown . . that of 40 Wall's pyramid . . and the peak of 70 Pine (my personal favorite). . that said . . if the building looks nearly as good as the above rendering . . with strong abstract crown treatment as shown . . it could look pretty swell . . This 45 Broad version gives us - not just another unique and exciting jag . . but also one with an appropriately distinctive and worthwhile gesture for consideration up top . . And to boot - there isn't a towering twig down in that neck of the woods yet . . This is pretty exciting . . Is this really happening after just a couple of posts ? . . |
at 1,100 ft, it would be nice it if included one of the great crowns of the skyline. A spire on top would be nice as well.

That looks pretty good. Very interesting crown and at 1,100 ft. will make a real statement.

Completed by 2018? Where are they on the prep. stage because they better get moving.

I love the crown as well. This is amazing, and at first I was certain that this was a SHoP design, but appears that it's CetraRuddy. Not big on the massing and the bulge in the center, but the design elements are great, and really help with the verticality of the overall composition.

Wow what a nutty tower. But ill take it.

I love most NYC stuff but once again I am in the minority. It looks like Trump got his hands on the Torre Velasca, glittered it up, and stretched it. *sigh*
|
I love it! It certainly has that SHOPesque neo-gotham style going for it. We are honestly so lucky to have THREE supertalls with these 20s reminiscent designs.
|
I also like the neo-gotham style of that tower. It might look out of place at Hudson Yards but it will fit well in Downtown. It's hard to tell from the render but is that a fancy cantilever starting in the middle of the building?
