People going to/from Detroit have historically used YQG a fair bit - as in 15-20% of YQG's traffic. As someone with family in Detroit, I have done so many times as YQG is often much cheaper than DTW for transborder. However, it's almost exclusively to fly domestically in Canada. On the flip side, Windsor-Essex has access to a global hub when flying within the USA or internationally.

BUT, you'd be nuts to double cross the border just to fly between Detroit and TUS.

Clearly like Deer Lake did, TUS are throwing a bunch of $ Flair's way. It's just that the choices beyond YEG are so obscure. I get that for 4/5 of the destinations, it'll be their city's only sun route, but still this is something you do after 10 years of proven ops and can afford to absorb losses should the dart board not succeed - see Ryanair for case in point.

F8 is essentially opening a new base at TUS. YEG is needed so they can rotate aircraft with Canadian base (the aircraft will spend 5 days a week at TUS, and 2 days at YEG). Maybe there will be more routes added from other bases later on.

As for the destination... I guess that's how subsidy can do for you, maybe someone will be paying for all the empty seats?

So for now, TUS will be base "20" for F8... all routes from TUS bases will be 20xx. Guess what are the skipped flight numbers are for...?

The K-W Récord is reporting that the Canadian Transportation Agency has issued a preliminary ruling that Flair may not meet the legal definition of “Canadian”.

I'm going to guess for the likes of a weekly to YQT, YBR, YKA, YZF, YYB, YSB, YAM, YCD, YKA, YXH, YQB and YFC...maybe YKF too. :runaway:

A YYZ-TUS flight could prove to be successful, especially if there are people in TUS wanting to visit Canada's biggest city. YKF, definitely on the table.

Flair is growing getting 8 new frames this summer, and they gotta go somewhere next winter.

I really hope flair attempts to add YHM in some form

YYZ or YYC seem like the best bets for a successful TUS flight. Even if the other flights fail I wouldn't be too surprised to see YEG-TUS stay.

I would assume pretzel means Germany. However they are showing real pretzels, they showing those dry little pretzels handed out as airplane snack food. So who knows.

Service to Berlin would be cool. But I suspect I will be disappointed.

The pretzels are floating. I'm assuming they're announcing flights to space.

Of course it will be an April Fools joke, they are legends at it there.

It's been at least a few years now for the maple leaf on their logo but the one that they have now was revealed in 2018 I believe (new WS livery coinciding with the 787 deliveries)

YOW-LHR doesn't seem to be on that map. Tells me AC is in no hurry to resume LHR or FRA from there. Sucks for Ottawans.

The XLR is definitely a Eastern Canada to Western Europe special.

Maybe when AC gets a little more confident with its legs, it will be deployed to Western Canada during the summer as the winds westbound are less an issue.

I'd be curious about what redeployment of AC's widebody aircraft this will precipitate.
