The best line of defense is and will always be the customs agent. That first question they ask ( where r u coming from?) will be very important in a case like this. They might need to brush up on their Mandarin though....;)

The PIK kiosks has simplified Chinese on it. They probably will have Mandarin speaking translators at the primary inspection point as well. I've seen them at YYC when they had flights with Hainan.

AC update this week (not including already announced):

A223 routes for S20
1x daily YWG-YYZ
1x daily YVR-YUL
2x daily YEG-YUL
1x daily YYZ-YUL
1x daily YWG-YUL
1x daily YYZ-YHZ
1x daily YUL-YHZ
3x daily YUL-LGA
1x weekly YUL-NAS (new for summer?)
YUL-DEN reduced to 13x weekly

Conversion to Rouge
6x daily YYZ-YYT
4x daily YYZ-YHZ

YYZ-BDA
YUL-FDF, PTP

Major service reduction
YYZ-YXX,CLE
YUL-LAX
YVR-YZF

Major service increase
YYZ-YCD
YUL-CCC,CUN
YYC-YOW,YCD,YKA
YYT-YDF
YVR-YXC,YQR,YXE

Route removed
YYZ-AZS,POP
YOW-MCO

YLW is getting widebody with daily Rouge 763 to YYZ
YHZ-YOW now mainline and YYT-YOW now express
Widebody YYZ/YUL-LAX/SFO now all swap from 789 to either 77L or 763
YXY-YVR remains mainline as in W19

There seems to be reduction in frequency for most domestic trans-con routes. Not sure if the schedule had taken account to the MAX grounding

The list ignores all the Jazz/Sky Regional/mainline/Rouge swap in central eastern Canada on routes > 4x daily due to complexity and leftover entries in the schedule...

nname Jan 21, 2020 10:32 AM

Also, doesn't seems like AC's mainline 763 are going anywhere yet.

1x daily NRT-YYC-YYZ
2x daily YVR-YYZ
1x daily YYC-YYZ
1x daily YEG-YYZ
1x daily SFO-YYZ
1x daily LAX-YYZ

How many planes does that need? 5..?

I wonder if some of the routes will be de-Rouged once the MAX comes back in service.

Or will they go the opposite way and Rouge everything except the minimum of mainline flights to larger cities?

The 767s are being retired in 2020 as per Air Canada. That probably means they'll fly through the summer peak and then be retired in the fall.

However, they might stay longer if the MAX debacle isn't solved by then.

Thank you for posting this.

I am wondering where you find this information? Is it publicly available? Do you have something (a script) that scrapes their schedule?

Thanks in advance!

These will most likely go back to mainline, along with all the other flights that were rouged due to the MAX groundings i.e YUL-PVR/CUR

I wonder if NAS will remain mainline into the winter schedule.

On a side note I was really expecting YUL-YYJ to switch over to the A220, but instead it seems to have be upgauged to a 321.

I thought the original plan is to have only 1 remaining in the fleet by Summer and retire after that. But that was before MAX though...

Everything I post are all public, I don't have insider info for anything :D

It is pulled from AC schedule using a script, then manually verify them when I see a difference compared to my reference (schedule from 8/10-8/16/2019 and 2020 as of Dec 2019)

Then where they going to put those Rouge planes...? They are already well underway in upgauging and replacing the regional routes, so I don't see a place to put those extra Rouge A319/320/321s after conversion back to mainline, unless they are reopening the YVR/YYC base...

I guess I should list out all the AC flights currently scheduled with MAX. Seems like it's almost certain that MAX will miss the upcoming peak summer season...

Realistically, how long would it take to get the MAX back in service. Say the various governments gave the OK tomorrow, how long before they are flying? I'm assuming the aircraft would need to be re-certified, and I have no idea what the pilot scheduling would be like. It's been a year, I'm sure they need to re-certified on the MAX again, assuming they even want to fly them. Some will probably have moved into other permanent gigs based on their seniority, and others are happy with where they are now. There could be a decent number of pilots moving to the MAX for the first time when they return to service, so there's even more training there. I can see it being a real mess to get it going again.

Considering that there's many, many MAXs sitting in the desert that need upgraded parts before they can fly (in addition to whatever maintenance they need after sitting for year plus), plus the simulator time for all the pilots (on limited numbers of simulators) in addition to whatever flying they're currently doing (they don't sit around at peak travel season), I would expect 2021 at the earliest for a full return to service.

Then Boeing has to restart the production line.

Does your script work on WS timetable page as well? I've been looking for an easier way to track their schedule changes.

WS has said they've be removing the Max from its schedule until June 24.

I didn't know such page exists... but do they still maintain it? It seems buggy to me when I tried YVR-YHZ, when different date shows different weekly availability...

I only have script for AC, TS, and F8... WG is easy enough to look at their entire daily schedule, 4N and 5T post full schedule online.

WS I don't really know how to start since there is no "easy" way to do it. Even with that page I don't really want to check every combination of destination on that list...

At least TS will tell you which airport pairs have flight available so I don't need to scan all the combinations...
AC is annoying but I can find flight by flight number so I just check every even-numbered flights from 2-1299, 1400-1989, 7200-8999

Don't have the list right now, but from my memory...

YCD-YYZ is now daily Rouge, up from whatever before
YCD-YYC additional daily express flight

It's most certainly not the best.

I think it showcases different availability as it displays based on aircraft type / departure time.

In the summer it displays WS001 occasionally as 3 or so times a week when it actually operates daily, but the departure time is different on different days, but WS010 displays correctly as its always departs at 19:20 on a 789.

zahav Jan 21, 2020 11:51 PM

Is the flight schedules section of the AC site always the most up to date? I know it differs from their actual booking engine sometimes (either things loaded into schedules first and booking later, or maybe vice versa?). For instance, the AC schedules still show two daily YVR-LHR flights, but news releases months back said it is only one daily but up gauged to 777W, and booking is only available for the 777W flight, but the schedules definitely shows a 777W and a 788 non-stop still. Any idea?

1) Bringing back routes that were cancelled, suspended and/or reduced during the MAX grounding such as YUL-PAP, YEG-LAS. Expanding to new destinations i.e YUL-SAN, as well as adding frequencies to already existing markets.

2) Further expansion at YOW, YQB and YHZ.

3) If the TS/AC merger goes thru will there even be a rouge?
