But st pierre is considered North America ! So
Not intercontinental.

I would love to attempt YYZ, but I don't know where to find frequency info. Airframes/airlines I know by heart at this point... but frequencies can be tricky, especially with AC.

Yes I know....and just a tongue in cheek comment about it being "transatlantic"....as I said, you're mostly over Placentia Bay!

Thanks! Looking forward to what you come up with. The YYZ list is exhaustively long, but lots of interesting airlines there.

Mods, suggest putting GSMTL's list at the beginning of the thread.

2015 – Another Record Breaking Year

POSTED ON FEBRUARY 25, 2016

Halifax Stanfield International Airport
served 3,702,705 passengers in 2015, making it the busiest year in the airport’s history.
“We had another record setting year thanks to great support from our community and a number of new and expanded routes,” says Joyce Carter, HIAA President & CEO. “Compared to the previous year, our 2015 passenger numbers were up 1.1 per cent. And we’re pleased considering our very challenging start to the year with nearly 1,400 flights cancelled due to severe weather in the first half. Passenger numbers rebounded in the latter half of the year with the addition of several new domestic routes.”

So Winnipeg has increased the gap after moving to 7th place last year. I really envy the destinations from Halifax though.

But can they match our unsurpassed selection of hourly flights to Toronto? :frog:

That's the best we can ever hope for, I think. More and bigger planes to Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Minneapolis.

767s to Pearson every half hour! Dare to dream!

If Halifax hadn't had such an unusually large number of cancelled flights last winter (feb-march) we may had been ahead of Winnipeg again. 1400 cancelled flights is a lot.

Luckily this snowless mild winter will fix that this year.

Just randomly picking July 20th Air Canada has 8 flights a day to YYZ from YWG, and 10 flights a day from YHZ to YYZ including two widebody 767's.

It may or may not have, depends on the size of the aircraft. 1400 flights @ 100 per flight would have given you 140,000 more pax, which would have pushed YHZ to 3,842,705 and past YWG's 3,778,035. But given that YHZ has loads of regional flights to outlying areas using smaller RJs and prop aircraft, I highly doubt that the number would have been anywhere near that high. And wx cancellations tend to hit smaller planes inordinately hard.

And for what it's worth, Winnipeg gets its share of weather cancellations... this winter wasn't bad but the last couple of years prior to that were. There was one winter where UA was cancelling flights all the time.

That was also charter season to the south which is all larger aircraft. YHZ has a large number of southern charter flights especially with AC.

^^
That was a monumental task!

Just off the top of my head and just looking at AC.

AC is missing MAD and ICN and LIM is rouge.

AC rouge is missing BUD, EDI, GLA.

Westjet also daily to GLA and DUB (both same plane direct via YHZ or YYT)
