You clearly haven't been reading what I wrote. WS didn't pay for these slots. They were ad-hoc slot approvals, due to the looseness in the schedules that COVID provided. They were most likely very surprised when the LHR slot coordinator gave them these slots. The pandemic made these slots possible for WS, and the very same pandemic is the reason why they dont feel the need to operate them.

No sense in transfering some flights to a more expensive airport for nothing, especially when there is no guarantee you will get the same slots come next summer or winter seasons.

AC S21 changes. Interesting they can load summer changes, but not update their schedule from October 25 onwards for the winter.

Looks like YUL-GRU is being extended to year-round, and YYZ/YUL-ATH upguaged to a 77W. A few other routes had mostly equipment changes.

As for WS, they've extended YYZ-YVR 789 service until early December. So far showing daily in November.

Also as we all expected WestJet has returned the slots they obtained for LHR.
Let's see if they operate GRU come December, much less year round.

UA/DL further reduced frequencies on their limited number of routes they will be offering through November.

American also updated their schedule and will only operate the following routes:
CLT-YYZ
DFW-YYC
DFW-YYZ
ORD-YYZ
PHL-YUL
PHL-YYZ
PHX-YYC

It baffles me that AA isn’t serving YVR, but is running YYC flights from both Dallas and Phoenix.

Too far for their regional plane, at least for DFW? If I remember correctly, AA had always been running daily mainline from DFW to YVR before they pull out completely. Definitely not the limitation of the plane, at least not the CRJ... maybe some contract issue that prevent them from putting a regional plane on the route?

Perhaps American is operating to YYC and not YVR because it’s less crowded there? Maybe taking advantage of Air Canada’s absence like KLM is doing.

Hopefully WestJet’s November schedule is loaded on Sunday.

Way too optimistic. I'll be surprised if even a quarter of the increase in December is materialized. The November schedule is more reasonable.

Four daily YVR-LAX and SFO?? Definitely not happening unless they're converting the routes to express.

WestJet's November schedule is coming this weekend, and it looks like they are cutting YYC-LGW and consolidating it into YYZ-LGW. This has to be one of the few rare times they've cut YYC in favour of YYZ.

I'm curious if KLM's aggressive planned 5x weekly Alberta service hurt their advance bookings.

WS is resuming PHX / PSP tomorrow and PVR & SJD on Saturday.

I figured AA is relaying on it's relationship with Alaska Airlines to funnel pax on the YVR-SEA routing, and then onwards onto either AS or AA's cities. Right now SEA is by far the main route from YVR, being operated by AC, AS, and DL. As far as I know, we only have service to the extreme Westcoast cities SEA, PDX, SFO, and LAX. But the AS/AA relationship is just a guess, no idea if that actually was a factor or not. AA doesn't have a partner in the other Canadian cities so maybe they thought those destinations should be done first. But as of Nov. 1, AS will start flying to YYC again, so not sure. I agree it would seem odd that YYC has AA service and AS service while YVR only has one, but I have no idea the demand side of things, so could be true.

PS, that AC schedule does seem sketchy. Also some mistakes between the list and the destinations guides. It says:

Take off to Honolulu
-Non-stop flights from Toronto: 1 flight per day starting December 1st

But then on the list it says the flights are from YVR? Weird

EDIT: YVR apparently has PHX service right now to PHX on AC. Didn't realize that, maybe another reason why AA isn't trying there?

Here are the time for the "4 daily" SFO-YVR in December:

AC561 SFO 0600 - 0829 YVR

Now I'm convinced they just generate that page by dump whatever that's left on their schedule. All those super optimistic multi-daily or business-as-usual routes are probably because they haven't have a chance to removing them yet...

Only part of the JAZZ have weekly schedule when I queried. The other ones just show the route exists but don't show any op days...

The most ridiculous one I saw was YUL-YTZ resuming 2x daily in November and then increasing to 14x in December. Hmmm!

Flying out of YEG on Tuesday. New body temp scanner being used in security preclearance.
Service level is still low, but that was at 5am. YVR service level is up a bit. Terminal A&B are now open for west jet and transat.

A few more food options as well. No more gate temp checks at either airport. YXT checks you as you get your ticket. Even if you have done it online.

Did the trip in reverse yesterday. YVR terminal was definitely busier than 2 months ago.
