I was recently in Marseille (August 2008) and took these pics of Tour CMA.

I've seen it in person.
It's quite impressive. |

Over the area encompassed by the giant Euroméditérraneé master plan, they're going to build these soon.
Residential developed by BNP Paribas Immobilier. http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/52...298632x298.jpg http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/16...1929Vue021.jpg http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/83...rs4bdabc38.jpg Some better renderings here: https://logement.bnpparibas.fr/fr/pr...lle/my-liberty And this by Vinci Immobilier. http://www.vinci-immobilier.com/site...?itok=E73KYIVn http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/4510253csud.png The site is being prepared. It all seems on a same lot they call 3C, within a neighborhood called Parc Habité. That particular lot is just surely large and divided in smaller sub-lots. The smaller components on the renderings may be some offices, so it'd be a little mixed-use. Expected to be completed in 2018. This is what the biggest bit of Euroméditérraneé is supposed to look like someday. http://golem-images.com/site/wp-cont..._mdf6_full.jpg As seen in the thread of the highrises to build. http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=194981 Should be skillfully planned and stunning, but it's taking long to have it all done. |
Over the same new neighborhood as that of the post above, Parc Habité, lot 2B.

The sale of the apartments is supposed to start as of May, and construction a few months later. So Parc Habité is promising to be a dense showcase of European contemporary architecture locally. The height of the 2 tallest buildings in the post above is of 60m (200ft), that of the 2 tallest here of 70m (230ft). So the effect of urban density should well be there, still managing some room for a bit of greenery so dwellers can breathe. |
You'll be fascinated by this British article...
Corrupt, dangerous and brutal to its poor – but is Marseille the future of France? Being from Paris, I'm too familiar with this shit, tired of commenting. All I got to say is Zidane is a huge gentleman who once literally cleaned his crampons on a Saudi player. Lol. He was suspended for a couple of games for that. That was during the 1998 World Cup (which France eventually won). He is a living legend both as a player and as a coach. He's currently coaching Real Madrid, and locals from Madrid just can't stop loving him. While Gaudin is a total old fart that should've been retired for so long already... I mean, that guy alone embodies the violent conflict of the generations over here. He simply doesn't get a fucking thing of what's in the brain of a guy like myself. |
Some raw modernism recently developed over the "Docks Libres", which is around the same area as the couple of high-rises recently built over the city on the seaside.
Pictures are by Carta Associés, an architecture firm quite active over Marseille. https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0213180753.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0212745509.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0214650482.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0213791675.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0215548227.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0216328747.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0217803394.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0219149249.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0219276250.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...5022040144.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...5022113435.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0221291683.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0222534544.jpg https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...5022310299.jpg Of course it will shock or make laugh those still hating modernism, but this is actually more subtle and contemporary than old brutalism. I can appreciate the consistency of the whole thing. It will age well if they keep it clean and free from any ghettoization. |
Still some latest housing currently U/C.
http://projets-architecte-urbanisme....saint-just.jpg http://projets-architecte-urbanisme....-marseille.jpg Inside the lot... http://projets-architecte-urbanisme....ean-nouvel.jpg http://projets-architecte-urbanisme....-marseille.jpg http://projets-architecte-urbanisme....saint-just.jpg http://projets-architecte-urbanisme....ust-marseille/ This is designed by starchitect Jean Nouvel and kinda crazy. They are building this thing for real. By Istres in August. https://nsa39.casimages.com/img/2018...0570226486.jpg Marseille's latest stuff is both looking like some Martian base and some tropical jungle. |
