If you read the article that's linked above the photo it tells you why....

Well, the strike was a 2 day mini one. There was a court order ordering the workers to be back on all construction sites yesterday.

Having worked around union people a fair bit I doubt any work is actually getting done if a judge ORDERED them to stop striking. Hopefully it was all just for show though and it's no big deal.

I think the strike is over for projects West of 34th. Assuming it was the city wide strike that affected projects in HY and in its proxies. The HY one was 3 days, and this 2 days as VG mentioned.

They can call it the Central Park Building, Lofts, Place, Palace or Spire. I personally like Steinway Tower

TechTalkGuy Jul 8, 2015 10:51 PM

:previous: The official name is the "Central Park Tower" by Extell Development Corporation.

It will house 183 apartments on 95 floors above ground.

a striking design indeed . . .
the slight irregular asymmetrical setbacks and cantilever off the slender central shank . . .
with the resolute shape and distinct position of the spire . . .
as well as a pleasing tower to spire ratio . .
really make for an elegantly proportioned sophisticated skyscraper composition . .
most worthy to be tallest in America's Biggest City . . .

I was just speaking with some guys from LendLease. They claim that the final details have not been divulged and the parapet will be well above 1,525. That seems hard to believe, but who knows?

chris08876 Jul 13, 2015 7:15 PM

I'm liking the "well above" statement. Anything is possible. I wonder if Barnetts ego will get to him, and all of that rubbish about how the tower will pay respect to 1WTC will suddenly go in the trash bin. This needs to dethrone WTC.

Vertical_Gotham Jul 13, 2015 7:49 PM

Very interesting. The good news is that they say it's not less than 1525'. :D

JR Ewing Jul 13, 2015 7:51 PM

I agree, Chris.

I'm a little dubious, but as these guys pointed out, nothing final has appeared on the DOB website yet, and Barnett has not, in their words, "shown his cards."

The New York Lion Jul 13, 2015 10:11 PM

Very interesting. Thanks for the info, J.R.

Watch this be a 2,000 footer.

The demand is certainly there.
