^Hunser was pretty clear on the figures he presented.

"1,630ft (497m) EL and spire 1,855ft (565m) EL"

His point was that the building is really going to stick out in Midtown.

Supertalls on this part of Manhattan have that nice elevation boost. From NJ, this is going to be seen easily 20 miles or so heading into Newark on I-78. Use to be that the ESB was visible from such a distance, and now 432 is visible.

Always neat to see the spires or tops of them pop out in the distance over the green hills.

That's four months away. But it should make following progress easier. I'm more concerned about when we'll get actual details (and renderings) about the building, including the store itself.

That seems pretty optimistic since I've yet to see any evidence that they've even started construction on the actual tower.

Good luck with the storm today, yous guys. If the estimated totals are accurate, and due to the nature of these types of blizzards, I can totally see this "hole" and the one across the street being filled with at least 4 feet of snow in places. Photogs; be ready to document!

the way the foundation looks right now reminds me of 432 park right before it started to rise. feels like that was yesterday. So amazing that we get to see these things rise day by day in real time. a year from now all eyes will be on this bad boy as it soars skyward.

That and One57. It seems like only yesterday those towers were beginning to go into the ground. This will be no different. When it's up, it'll be like it was always here.

have I missed something or are there still no official renderings of this tower?

Newer ones should come out sometime in Q1 of this year.

We have seen no official renderings, but chris is correct. We were told to expect renderings early in the first quarter of this year. That's not unusual for Barnett or some other developers though it is for developments in general.

No actual height posted but the DOB went back to 88 floors (maybe ~1420' again?)

This thing seriously changes like every week...

Perhaps they're not counting mech. floors?

Or maybe back to 1550' to the top occupied floor plus mechanical floors like in the beginning... this is getting ridiculous :???:

All the chain-yanking on this makes me think of Jason Robards in All the Presidents Men "When is somebody going to go on the g**damn record on this thing?!"

Roadcruiser1 Feb 10, 2015 4:58 AM

It could be taller, or shorter. Someone needs to finalize their plans. They are taking too long.

hunser Feb 10, 2015 2:22 PM

Extell just uses old permits for new jobs, it's a common practice. Don't take the 88 floors, 1,550' figure seriously.

Huh, how odd...

I want to take the 1550' figure seriously... I guess that was too good to be true? :haha:

Right, also various permits are for different jobs on site and the information on those permit sometimes reflect the original permit. The new building permits are the closest to being accurate, especially with any amendments.

Example, this NB (new building) permit from September is a direct amendment to the original permit to construct the building...

The following permits from a few days ago are not directly related to the building permit, but reflect the original filing...

Original new building permit

Building Height (ft.): 1,550
Building Stories: 88
Dwelling Units: 233

The same information will be reflected on the following recent filings, not the amended info...

Finally something to look at, even if we don't know exactly what the final product will look like.
