WATERLOO REGION | Construction and Development Thread
I have been a member here over ten years, this is my first new thread, and it is regarding something I've pondered since shortly after registering. Can anyone explain why Waterloo/Waterloo Region/Tri-Cities/KWC (I think it would be best calling it Waterloo for the Region as the townships basically mostly work in the city (KWC) and are very much a part of the whole) does not have it's own sub-forum under Canada? At present, there are represented the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th, and 20th largest cities (by metro/CMA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Templa...reas_of_Canada)) in Canada with Waterloo being 10th and not represented. This is also with more than 50 buildings over 50m and loads of development in the last number years in particular. I know there are many dedicated and passionate members on this forum from Waterloo and I would love to see it happen and contribute to it. Can we make it happen?

You should probably contact mods of the Ontario subforum.

I forget how we went about getting the St. John's section. Architype started it, and then we had this flourish about two years ago where there were a couple dozen of us. It's died off a bit but we keep the section going.
I think we posted in the Forum Issues thread. Or perhaps the other people in the Atlantic subforum complained about all the St. John's threads. I forget which. But I would start by posting in there and asking. I think you'll need enough active members, enough active threads in whatever forum you're in now, and a couple of obvious mods. |
Thanks but I was thinking more Canada than Ontario as the other cities mentioned have representation there from the main page. Who are the mods there?

There was a Waterloo sub-forum but the top poster threw a hissy-fit, deleted all his posts and started a new site "Wonderful Waterloo." That site eventually died and most people went to a new message board Waterloo Region Connected (http://www.waterlooregionconnected.com)

As waterloowarrior said, there is a great forum at the link he provided for Waterloo Region Connected. It is quite active as well.
Here again is the link. http://www.waterlooregionconnected.com/index.php |
While we're on the topic of getting new sub-forums, how about an Okanagan region subforum?
|
Why isn't there a Waterloo sub-forum here regardless of whether there is an active one on another forum? Perhaps people could come back. I just don't know who is a Canada mod.
|
It was shut down. You want another? You're going to have to work on it in the Ontario section. Up those posts from 1 a year to 1 a day.

I'd like to see a return. It's much easier to use one site to check out the goings-ons of multiple cities. It also encourages people from outside of your home city to check out and comment there and thus spurs some interesting discussions / debates.
I used to check out Wonderful Waterloo and to a much lesser extent Waterloo Region Connected. Now other than Urban Toronto I come here for all my Canadian city updates and happenings. Would love to see Waterloo return! |

WRC is great. I think a subforum here could be quite active, too. |
Post any development/construction news related to Waterloo Region. Perhaps with more activity a full subforum can be possible.
|
More activity would be great.
I've been busy keeping the KWC diagram up to date as best I can... http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?searchID=78065229 |

Thanks...
Those tallests, Virerra Village, are directly on the new ION line, Courtland/Block Line station. The SIXO proposal is across the street from the Downtown Transport Hub. More "new tallests" are expected in the near future... |
What's the best resource to discover/keep track of proposals in the area?
