I’m happy for demar but other than that just another Saturday night for me.

Crazy vibe in the city right now.

With that table I just realized the NBA only qualifies half as many playoff teams as the NHL does. You really have to deserve it.

Sixteen teams make the playoffs. How many do in the NHL?

16. Guess I read it wrong. Time for bed soon!

That NBA bracket looks like it has less playoff teams because the teams are beside each other instead of in a top/bottom setup. This gives it a different look:

How many superlatives does it take to talk about Kawhi? He had one glaring aspect to his game: the lack of passing. So what's he been doing the last couple of games? Dishing out assists to open shooters left and right.

The man is just amazing. And that rim-bouncing three-pointer tonight was almost spooky in how it mimicked the now legendary series-winner against Philly. When even the rims are helping you get scores, isn't this a sign that you should stay?

Fred VanVleet sure picked the right time to regain his composure. As did Norman Powell. And Lowry's been playing like an all-star while pretty much proving what some media head said: he can't be the best player on a title contender, but he can be the second or third best. The role fits him perfectly.

It's hilarious how Toronto has been the byword for playoff jitters for the past five years, but now with Kawhi they're turning into stone cold assassins. That knock down drag'em out series against Philadelphia was a baptism of fire that I think could very well be a major factor in how amazingly calm the Raptors have been all six games this series, by contrast with Milwaukee, who had such an easy road to the ECF that they seemed to get flustered by the push back from a more worthy adversary like the Raps.

I've been thinking that Milwaukee's presumed superiority due to having the best regular season record was oversold. They only won two more games than Toronto, who were using the "load management" strategy with Kawhi. What would the regular season have looked like for the Raps if the Claw had played 80 games instead of just 60?

I've been watching the games at home by myself, but now old friends in various places in and around the GTA are talking about getting together for a game or two during the finals. This is huge. We didn't have a team back when we were in high school, so we were second-hand fans of teams like the 76ers and the Pistons. But now we got a team.

And what a team!

rousseau May 26, 2019 5:01 AM

It was 76-61 for the Bucks with two minutes left in the third quarter. They were down 15 points, and they still came back to win it.

When does a Raptors team ever do that?

Chadillaccc May 26, 2019 5:15 AM

Hell yeah! First time ever winning the conference title, and first time ever holding the NBA finals in Canada :)

Nicko999 May 26, 2019 5:18 AM

Amazing night!!! That Kawhi Derozan trade was heartbreaking but paying off big time.

Go Raptors!

logan5 May 26, 2019 5:22 AM

Congrats to Toronto and the Raptors. Golden State is a huge step up from Milwaukee, but even if they lose, it's something to build on.

Not saying its a bad thing necessarily, but the play-offs have gone almost exactly how the regular season standings went.

Berklon May 26, 2019 5:42 AM

Some friends sent me some video of the huge celebrations on the Toronto streets.
Lots of similar videos on twitter and youtube.

It's nucking futs.

People out here acting like we just won the championship. :haha:

Better hope they do, not sure the odds of Kawhi sticking around.

rousseau May 26, 2019 6:20 AM

The city has been so incredibly starved for sports success. That's 26 years of blue ball backup gushing forth!

caltrane74 May 26, 2019 6:24 AM

If Kawhi wins us a Championship, it wont be so bad if he leaves.

No one cares you fucking clown.

How is Calgary's NBA team doing?

kwoldtimer May 26, 2019 12:58 PM

I wonder how much additional revenue being in the finals will spin for the Raptors and for the City of Toronto?

Huh? Demar's not even on the team anymore. How do you think we landed Kawhi Leonard?

JHikka May 26, 2019 2:14 PM

Was tough finding a bar with space last night an hour before tip off. Ended up at a place that was jam packed for the game. Place was electric and the Raps came through!
