wait - its going to be all lit up at night?? and that is what it looks like???!!! whoa.
|
:previous: Late to the party, but wow! :previous:
What a render and lighting for the skyline! This is becoming even more exciting than I had originally visioned. Just spectacular! |
That's incredible... how did they illuminate the terra cotta like that???
|
^^^
They use Micheal Sterns own saliva and somehow turn it into a fuel which powers this at night. Stern being one of the super tall gods right next to his counterpart, Barnett. Both towers are powered by their own super conductive, epic saliva. Who needs the energizer bunny anyways? Overate IMO. Can the energizer bunny bring towers like this? Nope. Thus, that pink bunny sucks and is high on meth. |
Are we so sure its getting lit up? Looking at it more, it seems that the metal is reflecting the sunset maybe? Thinking about it more, I wouldnt want to live in a building thats lit up at night, would be kind of annoying when trying to go to sleep.

I remember them saying something about the building being lit in one of those SHoP videos posted earlier. From the clip in the link, it looks illuminated. Any lighting would be on the eastern and western sides, away from any windows. The building itself will have a pattern that's visible both day and night. http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/154870525/original.jpg http://inhabitat.com/nyc/take-a-look...-street-tower/ Quote:

So the white panels are terra-cotta?
Are the gold design elements metal? |

Also the white panels are a mix of terra cotta, and ceramic. This building will rival the Empire State Building in design. We haven't seen something built like this since the 1930's design wise too. |
Thank you, Roadcruiser.
The design is a beautiful balance of both modern and deco. CPT will look even more uninspired (no pun intended) once both of these monsters are built. |
Ok this building might be my new favorite out of the New York developments. Modern Rockefeller anyone?

Bronze. It's expensive. Bronze helped make the Seagram building "the world's most expensive skyscraper at the time" according to wiki, and I have seen that observation made elsewhere. I love Art Deco and 111 W 57th just blows my mind.

You can read the Curbed Article here for the details on the building materials. :). http://ny.curbed.com/archives/2015/0..._look_like.php

I always compare it to the Woolworth Building. SHoP got some inspiration from there, and it also happens to be their home headquarters. http://41.media.tumblr.com/d8cc96110...o1_r1_1280.jpg http://newyork.urbanexplorer.info/po...town-manhattan http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mjcoNuBURw...Bwindows-1.jpg http://tilesinnewyork.blogspot.com/2...-building.html http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/158957543/large.jpg http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/158958086/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/158957544/original.jpg Meanwhile, it looks like this tower wasn't just hot on looks... http://www.wsj.com/articles/posh-tow...uth-1444728781 Quote:

Holy Christ this building just keeps getting more and more amazing. The building could possibly bring in a new era of classical yet modern designs and maybe put an end to generic glass towers. That could just be wishful thinking though.
