I'm a Quebecer saying YEG is having ''tremendous growth'' so far this year.

Balance restored.....

right... and Edmonton is what ? 200k less than Calgary? and YEG is at what 7-8 million a year? YUL is double YEG and then some and soon YUL will be way ahead of YYC too. And lets be honest here... domestic dominates YYC and YEG... ya it still counts but its always the same people travelling back and forth. You want to talk MAJOR airport? international?? remember its not population that counts... you stay in your little hut in sask ill stay in wonderful Montreal :).

I've been to both YUL and YEG, Edmonton has a better reason to be satisfied with its airport than a city like Montreal with its "Major" airport.

I'd far sooner live in my "little hut in sask" than an average residential structure in "wonderful" Montreal.

I'm not jumping to conclusions about how you live in Montreal or what you do or how you live... I'm keeping it very non personal.. which is more than you can say about me.

optimusREIM Aug 16, 2017 7:00 PM

So is there actual news or discussion here or is it just your typical east-west scrap? :haha:

WhipperSnapper Aug 16, 2017 7:03 PM

But you are jumping to conclusions suggesting his disagreement is in any personal. I don't agree with you either. It's actually an extremely ignorant sentiment.

I love how some people need to downgrade Quebec to make the west superior.

Just typical anti-Quebec attitude and uncalled for, just like G.S Mtl's comments.

Let Edmonton people be happy about their airport showing growth after a rough patch. And SaskScraper, stop trying to feel superior by popping up airport stats when we've been through this a thousand times. Gees...

So much insecurity on this forum.

you don't say! there there.. :pet:

I almost never report stats on this thread & I'm the one that should stop talking about airport stats?

free world/free speech whether you like what I have to say or not, I will continue to point out obvious biases by people like G.S Mtl whether it hurts his feelings & he tries to bully by being personally condescending towards me or not.

I never defended G.S Mtl. It's good he's being called out, but my point is, no need to bash Quebec to call him out. But hey, keep hiding your anti-Quebec attitude and arrogance behind free speech, nobody sees through that

Moving on please.

Winnipeg to Montreal being cut will definitely be Air Canada's win.

YYC will see an increase of 52 weekly flights this winter. YYZ +55 weekly.

Those frames have to come from somewhere. Bye bye P2P service, hello Hub & Spoke !

you know very well what you did.. you capitulated to name calling and trying to talk down about me based on preconceived idea about where I come from.. very childish.. thankfully I never resorted to your low of lows.

I love how they just buttered the media attention on how they were adding flights from YUL to YQB, YHZ and BOS.

And then...... CUT

Why Savvy U.S. Fliers Take Air Canada

More international travelers are finding better deals, nicer planes and faster flight times than they get from Delta, United or American by heading north

One of the best ways to go east to Europe or west to Asia now is to go north.

Air Canada , revived after years of turbulence and bankruptcy, has turned its hubs in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver into easy, fast connecting points for U.S. travelers. You clear U.S. Customs in Canada without even having to retrieve your checked luggage. Waits are minimal. Fares are sometimes cheaper. Planes are new and fitted with premium economy cabins—an option U.S. airlines are just beginning to roll out.

It’s the in-the-know alternative for travelers who want to avoid the slog of connecting in New York or Los Angeles, Paris or London, Chicago or Atlanta.

“People are surprised when I say it’s a much better experience on Air Canada,” says Louise Clements, an advertising executive who splits time between New York and Toronto.

Westjet has a pretty effective PR operation, no doubt.

But, I doubt any organization would do it differently - governments don't trumpet how they're cutting services either.

Even with the reductions to MBJ, FLL, PUJ, SXM and PLS, I'm pretty sure the added flights to YQB, BOS and YHZ represent an increase in flights and seats to/from YUL this year.

As far as I'm concerned, increased competition to those 3 destinations is more important for Montrealers.

There is plenty of capacity/competition already from YUL to MBJ, FLL, PUJ and SXM. PLS is the only exception. AC is the only one left operating the route. A small price to pay, really.
