I was just thinking this place is on sand and they are drilling oil forming a cavern under it. that means that the ground is becoming more and more unstable. what is going to happen when they finish all of these buildings is the weight would be so great that they will most likly sink into the ground. Dubai is also near a fault line that could badly effect it. if i lived there i wouldn't even trust the ground i walked on.

Ho hum, another day in Marina Dubai, where they crank out 400m supertalls like a freakin' assembly line.

The Torch is gettin' there! 2-3 months and it'll be above sea level! :jester:
|
still some unknown plots, hopefully with a small chance for new supertalls :)
|
wonder if people buying an apartment in Marina Pinnacle realise they will be surrounded by 60-100s buildings.

If you check the SSC forum on the Infinity Tower, you'll find some horrible news! :( http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...=358434&page=5
The foundation site of the Infinity Tower was flooded after a wall holding back the Dubai Marina water breached. Lucky escape for 100 workers Staff Report Dubai: Nearly 100 workers at the site of the 'tallest building with a twist' had a lucky escape yesterday as a wall holding back the Dubai Marina waters breached and flooded the foundation site. Excavation work on the 80-floor Infinity Tower was nearing completion when there was a sharp and loud sound, said a worker. "We then saw sand pouring down the sides," he said. The workers were ordered to evacuate immediately, said the foreman. The Dh700 million 80-floor tower is to have a 90 degrees twist. According to a manager of Arabtec, the incident is under investigation. The current view: http://i12.tinypic.com/2zipuv6.jpg http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/5513/photo050xu0.jpg I hope they fix that soon! |
They'll probably have to move the tower to another site.
First the fire on that tower u/c, now the Infinity incident - 2007 so far just hasn't been a good year for Dubai construction, has it? |
lets go back to a comment i made a couple weeks ago about this picture
