nce. I was wanting to see some 'sauga pics

The construction and your pics are amazing, but damn, Mississauga be ugly. Maybe after the Marilyn Towers go up and more parking lots disappear it will look better.

It's nice to see the Wal-Mart there in Mississauga. I mean how can it ever be a livable & desirable area without a Wal-Mart present?

It'll be interesting to see how Mississauga evolves over the next few decades. Hopefully density will increase. Thanks for the quality pics! :)

The scale of its bland monotony makes suburban Toronto somewhat disturbing. Is there really any point in living one of a million identical lives?

Lol

Evergrey Jan 6, 2008 1:17 AM

not a fan of this type of sterile high-rise dystopia

Austinlee Jan 6, 2008 1:24 AM

Nice pics.

I hate to sound negative, but if I like skyscrapers and highrises so much, why does Mississauga look so gross to me?
It looks like a glorified Schaumburg, IL.

I love this one though. What is it called?

to follow the comments above...

sort of sick | glad to know it exists | not attracted... don't worry | damn

Such an enigma you are, Mississauga. Demographically, you are one of the most interesting cities on earth. But you look so damn dull and depressing!

boden Jan 6, 2008 2:47 AM

It's garishness puts it into Niagara Falls' category.
Good post though flar.

One Park Tower. 38 storeys I think. I like it too, except it's in the middle of a field beside a highway.

This sums up my experience as a pedestrian in Mississauga:

Not to be too negative, but Mississauga is almost surreal. These pics were taken on a Saturday afternoon, and considering there must be 10's of 1000's of people living in all these apartment buildings, I only saw a handful of people. No wonder, even minor streets with no traffic are six lanes wide here.

Reminds me of outer parts of Atlanta, only without the hills and with snow.

Haha! Last summer, I met up with my friend from Markham there and we went to Playdium (not as fun as it is when you're 13). Afterwards, we went to get something to eat at Jack Astors, walking beside parking lots and typical chain-style stores. He's also a Planning student, so we were joking around about "downtown Mississauga".

"Cambridgite, shouldn't we get in the car and drive?"

"Why would we do that? We're downtown!! Look at all the hustle and bustle of pedestrians...and that skyline!"

the pope Jan 6, 2008 4:34 AM

having only driven by and through, these pics confirm my suspicions.

Also this tops my old favorite in Columbus Ohio which reads, "Pedestrians Watch for Turning Cars"

denveraztec Jan 6, 2008 4:55 AM

I too love this structure!

Well Mississauga certainly proves you can't build a real downtown from scratch these days. You've either had one for a long time, or you never will.

Certainly an interesting skyline however.

Wheelingman04 Jan 6, 2008 5:04 AM

Interesting downtown.

Doady Jan 6, 2008 6:57 AM

I find it disturbing how deceptive your photos and your words are. In many cases, the back of the buildings are shown to show the parking lots instead of the front of buildings. You take photos of signage for pedestrians on mall property or at the highway interchange and pass them off as typical pedestrian crossing signage in MCC. There is so much focus on the cars here, and none on the transit. And worst of all, some of these pics are not of MCC.

And I'd like you to name one minor street in MCC that six lanes wide.

BTW, One Park Tower is garbage.
