Any construction updates on Brookfield? This one I like. Sort of a retro 1950s/1960s modernist tower but it looks good and fits the area. Clean, simple unadorned design. Classic non fussy lines. I like well done art deco but I also like classic modernist towers like the Seagrams in NYC and practically anything by Mies.

New apartment tower rises next to DTLA's Figat7th mall
Brookfield is developing a long-empty site

Nearly 13 months after we last stopped by, the concrete superstructure of Brookfield's new apartment tower looms high above the Figat7th shopping mall in Downtown Los Angeles.

The project, named for its location on a formerly empty site at 960 W. 7th Street, will be a slender glass-and-steel tower featuring 784 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments above an 831-car garage.

Marmol Radziner and LARGE Architecture are designing the tower, which will present as a 56-story building when viewed from its main entrance on the upper level of Figat7th. However, when including above-grade parking levels fronting 8th Street, the tower will stand 64 stories - or roughly 695 feet above ground level.

Wow, only several posts per year. Why aren't people more excited about this? It is the city's tallest residential building, and 12th tallest overall.

Because most updates were posted on the regular "Downtown Project Rundown" page.

Nice update, pw. Thank you.
