JAL will be adding a second 787 9 flight in late June to ORD to go along with the 777-300 flight. TAP started service yesterday to ORD with A330 aircraft.

Is there a good source for finding out which aircraft foreign carriers fly into ORD?
I've seen a couple A-340s recently, but couldn't make out the livery. Could've been luftansa maybe. |

Or Iberian: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/IBE6275 Or occasionally, SAS: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/...315Z/KORD/EKCH |
^ cool, thanks.
So then it was lufthansa birds that I saw. I love the look of a quad jet, it's too bad they're slowly going the way of the dodo, just like the tri-jets. At least we'll still get to see a lot of cargo quads(747) and tri's (DC-10/MD-11) at ORD for many years to come. |

I saw the new bills passed this weekend contain measures for installing slot machines at O'Hare and Midway. Interesting...

Not sure if this was posted before but WAMOS AIR also has been operating from ORD with A330 and 747 aircraft with direct passenger flights to London Gatwick.

On the other end of the spectrum, landing at Midway that night was a treat. Fireworks and explosions going off all around the plane to the point I was breathless, felt like landing in the center of a huge warzone. |

So I suspect they'll place a few machines in high traffic areas to advertise the Chicago casino, and maybe a few in the lounges to occupy bored travelers. But no way are they going to place rows of machines in a place that can't generate money for the city and state. |

On a side note, earlier casino consultants had stated the Thompson Center would be the best location for a city casino. https://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/war...205998501.html |
the australian mainland is another step closer in ORD's sights.

I remember a lot of major crashes from the 70's and 80's on passenger flights. ESP the major one in 1979 at O'Hare. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americ...nes_Flight_191 With the left wing stalled, the aircraft began banking to the left, rolling over onto its side until it was partially inverted at a 112-degree bank angle (as seen in the Laughlin photograph) with its right wing over its left wing. As the cockpit had been equipped with a closed-circuit television camera positioned behind the captain's shoulder and connected to view screens in the passenger cabin, it is possible that the passengers were able to witness these events from the viewpoint of the cockpit as the aircraft dove towards the ground. I knew a lot of people that refused to fly on that thing. Tri jets scared a lot of public away from them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas_DC-10 In July 2018, there were 39 DC-10s and MD-10s in airline service with operators FedEx Express , Kelowna Flightcraft Air Charter, and TAB Airlines . On January 8, 2007, Northwest Airlines retired its last remaining DC-10 from scheduled passenger service, thus ending the aircraft's operations with major airlines. Incidents and accidents As of September 2015, the DC-10 had been involved in 55 accidents and incidents, including 32 hull-loss accidents,[59] with 1,261 occupant fatalities. Of these accidents and incidents, it has been involved in nine hijackings resulting in one death and a bombing resulting in 170 occupant fatalities. Despite its poor safety record in the 1970s, which gave it an unfavorable reputation, the DC-10 has proved to be a reliable aircraft with a low overall accident rate as of 1998. The DC-10's initially poor safety record has continuously improved as design flaws were rectified and fleet hours increased. The DC-10's lifetime safety record is comparable to similar second-generation passenger jets as of 2008. … Other notable accidents ... |

The last scheduled passenger flight of a DC-10 was in 2014. The last scheduled passenger flight of an MD-11 was also in 2014. and the L-1011 and 727 also took their very last commercial passenger flights earlier this year, so if you want to ride on a full-size trijet, you'll have to go to russia where there is still one Tu-154 in passenger service with ALROSA and 23 Yak-42's in passenger service with several russian airlines (as of 2018). Early accidents tarnished the DC-10's reputation, but it eventually earned a pretty good safety record for itself. Most pilots who flew the bird seemed to have only good things to say about it.
