First effort - New Toronto Argonauts Stadium - (31,000)

Hey all,

I've been messing around with this design for a few weeks now - a new stadium for the CFL's Toronto Argonauts stadium to be located on the site of the old Lamport Stadium in the Liberty Village area of Toronto.

It seats 31,000 (including 500 club seats at halfway line on the West Stand) and 25 luxury suites at the top of the West Stand.

My first effort - so be gentle.

no roof?

I'm a believer that football should be played in the open elements - it wouldn't be hard to put a roof over the two main stands however.

well, exactly, I am not talking about PLAYING the sport under the protection of a roof. I am talking about WATCHING it under the protection of a roof.

And I have the same belief of watching football in the elements.

CFL season runs from July to November - so the weather shouldn't be that bad for spectators.

Compromise with a sort of venetian blind overhead?

Looks very functional. I would like see it in some kind of context to get a better feel of its size and how it fits its surroundings.
It looks good without the roof, but I would want to sit under one, if I ever were to see a game.

Not bad. Looks pretty bare-bones but it does look to be functional for the Argos. I can't imagine there being a lot of other non-football events there, what with the Rogers Centre taking most of the stadium type events (including future Grey Cups). But it could hold other football events (HS championship games, U of T vs York, perhaps even the Vanier Cup.)

Now that it seems like the Argos need a new venue for 2017, this type of place may be in the offing.

Don't get mixed up between N. American "football" vs. Soccer... different level of toughness for both fans and players. ;)

Looks awesome for your first attempt, I need to practice making more stadiums! Excellent work.
