My favorite area of Portland!

Thank You
Thank you so much for posting these. I just had to comment on this thread as many childhood memories came flooding back. I lived in NW Portland until I was 10 years old (1946 - 1957). Attended Chapman School through 4th grade. Then we moved to the Eastside, and later to California.
I clearly remember the house in the 6th picture. It is on Northrup St. between 24th and 25th. I lived there for a year or so when I was about 5 years old. (1951 or 1952). I used to sit in the big picture window with my babysitter and play a game of counting passing cars. Thanks again for the great memories. Patrick |

memories
Although I haven't been to Portland in 40 years (1977 last visit) I still have very vivid memories of all the places I lived (NW and SE neighborhoods). My family moved to California in 1962 when I was 15. I use Google street view to look around the city frequently. Even though the city has changed dramatically, I am amazed at how my old neighborhoods (NW and SE) have stayed the same. Many of the houses and apartments are even the same color and landscaping I remember.
Although I was too young to patronize it, the picture of the Nob Hill Bar and Grill ("Nobby's") was a place that my dad would visit for an occasional beer or two. I understand they have great hamburgers. Hopefully, someday I will be able to get back to Portland and have a beer or two at "Nobby's". Patrick |
