Great locations, esp. the one near Petco and the convention center if they can squeeze it in there. On the other hand, the more easterly site deeper in the East Village has more parking, and an arena there would spur development. There are already a couple of twin 45 story residential towers nearby, and more growth there to infill would be good. The site is still close enough to th Gaslamp to keep foot traffic good, and it wouldn't strain parking as much. It might compete with services for the homeless, which are nearby (St. Vincent Father Joe complex etc) but might open up job opportities for them. Homeless services and an arena can coexist  |

Adding 3 teams would also not work, because the NBA currently has 30 teams. 3 would make it an odd number, creating an imbalance. There would have to be a 4th expansion team to make it work, and I don't see the NBA adding 4 expansion teams at once. It'd have to be 2 (Seattle and Las Vegas), and then maybe you can start looking at San Diego and another city like Kansas City, but with San Diego, you'd still have the issues listed above. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...vision_markets Agreed that an arena in Midway isn't probably the best use of the space. One could easily fit in Tailgate Park and arenas have much more flexibility in their construction than open stadiums, so they can shoehorn in lots of places. I see no reason why they couldn't build something over at-grade rail yards except for cost, which could be a big reason, but it is not really that different from Hudson Yards being built over a sub grade yard. |

Looks awesome! Can't wait to go down there. Don't know how much of the city I'll see because I'm going for a friend's graduation from boot, but I'll see if I can't familiarize myself with some ongoing projects before then.

Great photos! Yeah late July through August is about as muggy as it gets here and the sunsets are beautiful this time of year. Lots of pink in the sky. Heat turns up and dries out in September/October.

Vegas vs. SD for NBA
Reasons SD is the better choice: The TV market is much bigger it will take LV a long time to ever get close. A huge thing no one has ever mentioned: They already have 2 teams that play in the Fall thru Spring NHL and Raiders. San Diego has a massive sports void once the MLB season ends with the Chargers being gone. Too much competition from the other teams for NBA there.
4 teams in CA argument. Vegas is even more of a Laker/Warrior town than San Diego is. While technically just over the state line in Nevada it is a massive California transplant city. San Diego is yearning for its own sports identity since the Chargers left. We desperately want a franchise to call our own. Vegas getting a team is same thing as a 5th team in CA. It is a shame that the Chula Vista Bayfront is a bit far from all the money in La Jolla North thru Carlsbad because that area is so prime for a billionaire to come in and do a massive project teaming up with the dynamic of the amazing Gaylord Hotel and Convention Center. A mega rich guy could buy the Pelicans or Grizzlies and do an arena and housing at that site and it would be epic right on that nice stretch of bayfront. |

So if I’m SD, I would be lobbying HARD to Adam Silver right now to convince him to choose SD over Vegas. |
