SEATTLE | KeyArena/Seattle Center Arena Renovation
Why isn't there a thread for this somewhere? (considering all the other arena projects on here)
 |
For some reason Seattle threads don't seem to garner much interest, even the thread on the Rainier Square project which is one of the tallest buildings under construction in the country, is slow

Hey fellow posters - the Seattle section of SkyscraperCity is where most of the construction updates are at. For whatever reason everyone migrated over there awhile ago.

Maybe a decade ago, SSP tried to make one of those multi-page nightmares for Seattle...one page for Downtown threads, another page for photo threads, and so on. SSC was easier, with a single unified page, so we mostly moved there.
As for Key Arena, they've switched contractors. At some point they realized that opening in late 2020 would never work given this city's entitlement and building permit processes as well as the general construction timeline. So the team's start moved back a year. With the new late-2021 target, the owner and contractor split. I don't know why they split...based on how these things typically work, it could have been anything from the contract and price to personalities and work styles to differing reactions to the new team start. The WNBA and Seattle U teams also use the arena, and will want to move back in. |
