I need to go take some pictures, but I see there is all of a sudden some very large tower at Southdale in Edina. I have not been over there in months, and it appears to have gone up over the winter.

I think you’re talking about The Bower Residences on Hazelton, behind the Target? It got out of the ground last April. See my post here: (Includes architect renders)

I know the rest of this building is an East African market, but this addition looks like a warehouse and it's not immediately obvious to me what it is.

That last pic above seems to be at 2831 12th Av S based on google maps and the remnant red brick section at the back. Although I guess it could be the back side of a building with the 13th Av address. Still can’t guess what it is though. It certainly could be storage space, perhaps with offices above?

My current theory is that the building is being converted to a charter school and this new section is the gym.
