Discovery Tower & Main Place look amazing!!

The Alkek Patient Tower at MD Anderson Cancer Center will add 9 floors to the original 12 story tower. Construction will begin this fall. Over 200,000 square feet will be added and when finalized, there will be 867 beds in the new 21 story tower.

i often wonder how Houston would look if we combined all of our "downtowns" (downtown, med center, greenway, greenspoint, and the galleria).....would be pretty impressive! :)

Yes.
It's the southwest corner of Main and Alabama. It's currently a very large vacant block. It is directly across the street from Julia's Bistro and near the Breakfast Klub, T'afia, Tacos-A-Go-Go, The Continental Club, The Big Top, and the beautiful Isabella (Spanish styled) Apartments from the 1920s. It would be served by the Ensemble Theatre lightrail stop one block away. |

yes, the 610/288 north is a great view of the entire city........if there was more room on the bridge probably could stop and get a pic.....guess i'll have to do it some sunday morning bright and early!

Main Place will be a nice structure in the skyline but it pains me that it will not do anything for Main at street level. Surprising being a block over from Main Street Square. Hopefully the design will not include skywalks and tunnel access. Atleast Hines' garage across the street will have retail. Hopefully that will look a little better when some life and color is added at the bottom of the structure.

Here's the rendering for the Buffalo Bayou Partnership's plan to turn the old Sunset Coffee Bldg. downtown into a canoe/kayak/restaurant/office space for the organization/event space. Lake Flato is the architectural firm of record.

Post Properties is getting ready to build another midtown apartment community. This one will be located on Richmond Avenue, Milam, and Colquitt. It will be called Richmond Landing.

This needs ground floor retail. If you've ever lived in a place like this, which I won't do again, on the ground floor you'll know why. It's nothing but people staring into your apartment. For a store that's good, but for an apartment, that's bad. Opening the blinds or curtains is a nice thing to do, and the bottom to top blinds aren't any good. I already tried those.

The new Post place will be perfect if Metro ever decides to build the University line. That will be the transfer point near the Wheeler station.
I often wonder who in their right mind would want to live on the ground floor at places like Camden, Post, 2222 Smith.....all of us drunk bar patrons can peek right inside!! That's why I'll take my 4th floor loft!! |

Randall Davis is at it again...
With only 3 units remaining to sell in the unfinished Cosmopolitan on Post Oak, ole Randall decided to get busy with another project nearby. Randall Davis closed on the property currently occupied by a McDonald's. The Titan is set to rise there. 26 floors. 80 units. McDs will move to the northern part of the property while The Titan will rise on the corner of Post Oak Blvd. and Garrettson Rd. |

WOW. Is this really the Houston compilation thread? Nice updates since I have been gone. The Mosaic looks basically completed and it's amazing how fast Houston Pavilions has progressed. Can someone get a closer pic of the One Park Place rendering at street level that is on page 31? Looks interesting. Since when is there a demand for so many new office towers downtown?

The first two pics are of a scale model of Houston Center, showing a proposed 6 Houston Center. I walked by the Cathedral this past weekend. I have to say it is really something to look at. I cant wait to get inside and look at look at the architecture and what not. On the same note, the area around this plot of land has so many parking lots. There is so much potential for this area, even if it's just a few buildings, it would really do something to the skyline as well as the area... :yes: |
all of downtown/midotwn has lots of potential. for such a large city, we sure do have plenty of downtown spots to build!!

I wouldn't have guessed that 6 Houston Center would have been built across the park from 5 Houston Center to the South. In fact, now that I think about it, "the park" as shown between the two buildings is where One Park Place is now rising, right? If so, I hope they change the design for 6 Houston Center because it won't make any sense with a 501 foot traditional styled tower standing inbetween!

Yah the location or design for 6 Houston indeed might change.
There really is a lot of potential for building in downtown Houston. Walking around the Cathedral being built, there are small passport photo shops, car lube centers, and a lot of other small businesses. The view of the skyline when walking around this area is actually pretty nice because you can see most of downtown without near buildings blocking the view. But hey, I'm all for more development. |

Ed Wulfe has stated that the first phase of BLVD Place will break ground in October. The 70,000 square foot first building will house 7 current tenants like Hermes, Americas, and Cafe Annie. This will allow Wulfe & Co to then tear down the old Saks and strip mall.
Also, it's been leaked that Hanover plans to develop a FIFTY-FIVE story apartment tower as part of the massive project. NICE NICE NICE. A tower that size, even with a flat roof, would rise to around 610 to 670 feet tall. |
