Hopefully it won't be as bright as the light was on 99 Hudson in Jersey City. Remember, before it was adjusted, how bright that light was? :haha:

It was so bright that I had flashbacks of Bert the Turtle.

The east facade is so awkward.

The amazing thing about NY is that we build a 1,550' tower, and even before it has been fully completed, a taller tower (175 Park) comes along.

This is the Age of Ramses.

I was in NYC in 2013....it was amazing. But what's happened since then is astounding.

In a few years with 175 Park, JPMC, 520 Fifth, among others, it will be surreal.

The World Trade Center and phase 2 of Hudson Yards need to be finished, too.

And there will be more HUGE towers pop up.

The reality is New York City is the most powerful and richest city in the most powerful and richest country, and that will not change in any of our lifetimes.

There will be a day when 100 1,000 foot towers dot the skyline.

I wonder how they get that last panel in under that cantilever...

Wish they would have gone with the fake facade, like 220 CPS, underneath. I remember Barnett saying the entire eastern facade would be blank if the cantilever didn’t get approved. Imagine 1,500 ft of that.

Oh wow, that's incredibly petty. Or cheap. Or both.

It's ridiculous. It has to do with the core placement, but 220 CPS handled it's own situation nicely. On the other hand, I blame 220 CPS (Vornado's cash cow) as well as Nordstrom (who wanted better floor plans) for this awkward design. (Indirectly, we know who actually designed it).

I'm thankful we got the tower we got (albeit without its signature spire, it does feel oddly incomplete). Could it have been more fancy and ornate? Sure! 111W57 does that very well. Could it have been an absolute dud? Depending on who you ask, sure!

For me, I think a fully lit CPT will be a nice complement to the ever-growing Billionaire's Row of towers! They're towers many of us will never get to enjoy inside and out, but the area visually feels more complete with that, 220CPS, and everything else that lines up the north part of Central Park!

2020s New York isn't what I imagined growing up in the 80s and 90s, but I'm glad it's still changing and evolving! :D
