If you upload the new pic using the same name/url then it'll auto update essentially.

I hope this makes sense... I don't feel like I'm making much this morning!

The base then became an alternate to Gander for passenger traffic/refuelling, then Air Canada (Trans Canada Airways) built a civilian terminal for passenger flights.

And a lot of that ‘Cold War’ infrastructure still remains at the old USAF ‘Ernest Harmon Field’ in Stephenville. Here a few shots from Sept 2014.

(>>>>Trevor3.....The last time I was in the civilian terminal a few years ago there was a large mural map showing the USAF MATS routes out of Stephenville. Is it still there?.....but I imagine it’s been painted over by now. It was a nice bit of history)

Sweet F-102 Delta Dagger, a throwback to when jets looked like nothing more than manned missiles, and had awful handling characteristics. Great at intercepting lumbering bombers...and absolutely nothing else.

Sadly the mural was painted over in the last couple of years when they renovated the departure gates. I don't know if anybody took pictures of it, but I would hope the local historical society did. Would be fantastic to have a reproduction of it at the entrance to the museum for tourists coming through.

Fun fact: My first job in high school was cleaning out that rusting green hangar on the old air field. It was being converted into a factory to produce peat moss pellets for heating. Unfortunately, it didn't come to fruition so the building has been empty for the last 10 years.

It's actually becoming a landmark, I think more people want to see it stay than have it torn down now. People even use the giant doors on the east side of the building as a backdrop for wedding photos, like these friends of mine did last summer:

The Delta Dagger is a beauty though. It's parked right outside the town hall on that pedestal and was repainted last year ahead of the US Air Force reunion we're hosting this summer. My uncle was the truck driver who hauled that plane up from the states when the town bought it for display in the 1980s.

Hummm Jet Airways YYZ DEL is via BRU and not
AMS ? according to plane finder.

I believe Jet used to use BRU as their transfer point but now uses AMS. Likely hasn't been updated properly.

I flew YYZ to BUD 2 years ago through BRU, not a bad flight actually.

Looks like Ethiopian airlines has shelved plans for 4th weekly to YYZ. Will stay at 3 weekly

SkahHigh Mar 9, 2016 3:24 PM

Tunisair seems to be close to making their Montreal-Tunis route official... Wonder if this will work.

I wonder if it's because their 788 got into an incident at ADD yesterday? The front landing gear came off.

People will take wedding photos in front of just about anything these days. Don't get me wrong they can be beautiful but this one seems a bit pointless. Surely if they wanted urban grit or derelique (Zoolander ref) they could have found something a bit more interesting where the bridesmaids wouldn't blend into the background.

Boundary Bay Airport (YDT) in Delta is Canada's 7th busiest airport in terms of airplane movements - even ahead of Ottawa's YOW and many other! :)

Not everything out of YDT is only general avatiation, though. There are also few scheduled routes to Victoria and Nanaimo.

The terminal building is actually verynew and modern for such a small airport!

Nearby there are some also huge McMansions that are very typical of Metro Vancouver.
