Wow, 1250 feets? I find it very unlikely for this area. I believe it will be somewhere between 1083 feets.
It would be great to have a building on top of 1050 feets facing the central park. And surely this building would yield many sales because of this incredible view (The example of his "brother" One57 of the same company. The Extell is amazing! |

Demolition is now well underway--the two buildings in black netting on 57th are now the same height. Passed by last night but didn't get any pictures as it was too dark.

if they're allowed 30% more air rights than One57, couldnt they go to 1300 feet?

I walked by on 17 Nov 2011, and demolition was proceeding. Extell has only 97 apartments to sell at One57, and based upon redhot sales at lesser developments, the world's "one percent" will buy them quickly. Therefore, Barnett will want to get this 300m+ tower rising once the site has been fully cleared.

Work on this site was in full swing on 29 Nov. 2011. The school, which was located at 220 W58th (on the northeast portion of the site) is gone, as is 217W57th. 221 W57th is nearly gone, and demolition is proceeding on 225 W58th.

That is going to be a MASSIVE tower!
That is a really wide and deep mid-block lot. I hope the design is inspired like One57 and not like the assumed horror at 432 Park...

Wow, this is just a gigantic plot of land. Considering the height we're getting at the much smaller Carnegie57 and Drake sites, would it be out of the question to see something 1500+ here? Maybe even higher?

I think it's still too premature for a height, the tower is still in development status, not officially a proposal even. But we'll see.

Extell has the only new product to offer in the uber-luxury market. Hence, Barnett is eager to proceed with 225 W57th.

^^ Damn, this one and One57 are pretty close. It will be quite a sight once both towers are finished.
Also, it seems to me that Barnett is today's Trump. So far he's shown off his ability to get things done. |
