Concrete buildings seem to rise really fast.

Looks like it's up around 14 or 15 floors already. Must be averaging quite a remarkable pace per week.

Will have quite the effect on the view of Downtown Brooklyn's skyline from so many angles:
from the top of the ESB,
from the FiDi's waterfront,
from Brooklyn Bridge,
from the F/G Train (when its above ground) in Park Slope,
from NY Harbor/Governor's island,
from the FDR,
from Liberty State Park in NJ,
and from the southbound drive over K Bridge.

Will also stand out BIG TIME for planes on the LGA southern approach path that takes them over Prospect Park.

Although maybe inconsequential, I do wonder if tourists will see Downtown Brooklyn stand out more and wonder... "hey, I wonder what's over there??", especially for the less adventurous types who typically stick to Manhattan and BBPark.

^ Brooklyn itself is already being flooded by tourists (in normal times). The borough itself is iconic enough that I don't believe a single building is gonna draw tourists from Manhattan. Most will go to Brooklyn for Brooklyn. Unless of course, they put up something 2,000 ft. BUT, a tall tower defining the skyline helps with an identifiable image, the same way the Brooklyn Bridge does. This will become a symbol (or icon) of Brooklyn.

We should be getting the first sections of facade installation soon correct?

NYguy Sep 15, 2020 11:09 PM

The amount of new construction in Brooklyn already is amazing.

mrnyc Sep 20, 2020 2:34 PM

i still can hardly believe this one is happening. its like all our dreams for an unquestionably large and beautiful tower came true. what a treat it is to watch being built.

also, although i’m not usually big on these kinds of things, i am enjoying being privy to the secret as most people are unaware of it. i was driving on flatbush with my friend who lives right there in boerum hill and i said you see that, just wait that is going to be one of the most impressive buildings in the world and an instant icon for brooklyn. he was just stunned he had no idea. casuals lol. :haha:

NYguy Sep 20, 2020 2:44 PM

^ That’s true, especially considering its location right next to popular Junior’s. Although, I did have someone try to educate me in it once while taking pictures.

Ha, I love it! Agree. Even now it looks so unassuming, but just you wait people...just you wait :D
