Rubish

Are the street cleaning services on break for the holidays or something? I've been out in the city for one reason or another the last couple of days and can't help but notice an increase in trash, big bellies that are full, and it seems like there's more homeless beggars around. It's pretty upsetting but I'm not sure if I'm just imagining things or if it's cause there's more people in the city or what??

I just saw a CCD cleaner out with the mechanized cleaner today. Big Bellies are emptied by the Streets Dept. Not sure what the number of homeless has to do with the other 2 issues. If it's nice out and tourists are out you can rest assured panhandlers are going to be out. There are a lot of visitors walking around right now, I just noticed that.

There are a TON of visitors in town this week.

Old City is crawling with families that appear to be in town for the Christmas break.

Maybe that's it.

same near Reading Terminal.

They have closed the sidewalk at 9th and market and demo is underway at the Gallery entrances at 9th and 10th. Sidewalk has also been closed on 10th street and work was underway underneath the overhead section of the mall. It looks like they will be closing 8th and working on the S&C building as well.

Walked through that this morning. There were teams of construction guys setting up operations. I think this demo's going to move fast. Pretty exciting. Everyone's been talking about market east and all the development but with the Gallery project underway in a visible way, you can really feel it. Crazy.

Excavation is underway at Lincoln Square. 300+ units, two floors of retail, and 24,000+ sq/ft of retail space in the restored train shed. Funny to have something of this scale in the lowrise thread, but this is a significant parcel size.

For a project that (last time I checked) didn't even have a building permit yet, they sure aren't screwing around.

Building permits are there, address has been consolidated to 1000 S Broad St.

^ I like that building on spring garden. Balconies facing 95 an odd choice but it's got big windows, outdoor space, parking, nice density.. I'm a fan

Or the one you are talking about may be the retail + condos/apartments going up as part of and in front of this:

Definitely this one.

I took some pictures today of the in-progress work. If you or someone else wants to PM me your email to post, I'll send them. On that note, I often take pictures of projects around the city. I just haven't had the inclination to deal with the picture posting process on this site. But if one of the regular picture posters wants me to email what I can take, I can send whenever I take something so they can post it.
