That's certainly true, indeed!

I don't see why Extell doesn't build higher since higher units yield higher sales prices, and 220 CPS obscures 70% of 217's views.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

2,000 feet is my estimation.

JR Ewing Jul 16, 2015 2:01 AM

I find this tower's utter secrecy to be perplexing. However, I think that it will be in the 1,525' range.

chris08876 Jul 16, 2015 2:55 AM

You'd almost think Extell is selling themselves short not taking advantage of the fact that they could add more units and build taller. A few extra floors, more units, and it wouldn't take much really from a design standpoint. Whatever the final outcome may be, its a win-win, but I'm surprised greed hasn't pushed this higher.

I'm holding out for 1550' to the roof and 1825' for the spire

This thread has gone all over the place in the past couple of days. Keep in mind that if you want to discuss the various supertall towers proposed in New York, there is a thread specifically for that. If you want to discuss what's going on in other cities, don't.

Maybe I missed something, but is it not appropriate to discuss the effect this specific tower may have on other development? If not, show me where so I can post there. Likewise for the boom at large, regardless of this thread.

Me too. I really want the spire to break 1,800'. And the roof should be near 1,600'!

I hate Extell's secrecy, but at least they deliver.

I'd imagine it has to do with what can actually fit into the zoning envelope as-of-right. Remember they are avoiding any variances so as to not trigger ULURP.

A portion of this is at street level!

Is there any idea when we will see this reach street level?
Sorry to sound inpatient.
Its just an exciting project!

Ploppalopp Jul 17, 2015 4:18 AM

Thanks for the update JR. Is that yellow thing another crane?

JR Ewing Jul 17, 2015 10:34 AM

My pleasure, sir! It appears to be another crane.

chris08876 Jul 18, 2015 12:01 AM

JR Ewing Jul 19, 2015 6:52 PM

I'd like to see Tishman crack 1,600'.
