Are they planning to bring the tramways back on Marszalkowska street? It seems that they have removed the tracks - I hope they'll put them back.

hackunion Apr 5, 2006 4:17 AM

They are renovating the entire street from Saviour Square to Constitution Square by June, upgraded tracks and posts will return.

tradlak Apr 7, 2006 5:41 PM

Thanks for all the amazing images of Warsaw developments.

Does anyone have any images of developments around Plac Napoleona or Malachowskiego?

As an urban designer, I find Warsaw endlessly fascinating.

Cheers, Ted

Thanks for all the amazing images.

Does anyone have images of Plac Napoleona and of any recent developments? This was a very beautiful space before WWII.

As an urban designer, Warsaw never ceases to amaze me. I think the reconstructed Saski Palac should house a museum of urban design.

Thanks for the great photos.

Jana Pawla and Jerozolimskie intersection will look very dynamica and exciting some day soon, but I wish they employed some uniform built-to-zones to provide a comfortable datum at the pedestrian scale.

Any talk of plans for huge lot across from Warszawa Centralna?

They are too busy to care about it. ;) Only some spectacular const. sites like golden terraces catch people's attention.

Mike K. Apr 26, 2006 6:47 AM

Wow...I had no idea the tower portion of Golden Terraces had a strange curvy portion on one side.

Cool.

Yeah, that curve looks really great.
As does the entire building.

The latest news about Libeskind's Tower (Zlota 44)

Quote:

Złota 44 – the beginning is near!

The promised gem of architecture, Złota 44 will be built in Warsaw. The City authorities have issued the planning permission for the unique apartment high rise designed by Daniel Libeskind. The tower, located in the very heart of the capital, will be ready by 2008.

Orco Property Group has obtained the planning permission for its new investment. The permit allows for the development of a 192-m high skyscraper, which has potential to become the most interesting and most spectacular building of its type in Europe. “The decision of the city authorities is of great meaning to us. For Orco it means that we can get the Złota 44 project going,” says Jean-Francois Ott, President of Orco Property Group. “The project was planned with Warsaw and its residents in mind. The fact that we have been given “the green light” for its development from the authorities of Warsaw is a huge success and source of great satisfaction”, adds Jean-Francois Ott.

Złota 44 – The Beginning of a New Era in the Life of the Capital

Not only is Złota 44 an example of the highest world standard in architecture, but Orco Property Group's investment will also be a first step towards reviving the city through combining residential and commercial developments. Worth noting is the fact that the new high rise will not be yet another office building which becomes deserted after dark, but a place bustling with activity 24 hours a day. “Złota 44 will be a key to the city's liveliness. It is natural that a town evolves together with changes in the lifestyle and changes to the architecture. This building will introduce such a positive change. We are convinced that it will revitalize the centre of Warsaw,” says designer of Złota 44, Daniel Libeskind.
Warsaw owes this unique skyscraper to Jean Francois Ott, President of Orco Property Group, who originated the project. According to Ott, Warsaw has great potential, but it lacks spectacular and modern architecture. Now that the planning permission has been granted, President of Orco believes that the centre of the Polish capital city has a great chance to become one of the most interesting places in Europe.

Not only will Złota 44 be unique for its spectacular architectural design, but also for the modern solutions which will be introduced in a building of this class for the first time. The luxury apartment building will be built using the highest standard environment-friendly technologies applicable to this building.

Orco Property Group is a leading investor, developer and asset manager in the Central European real estate and hospitality market, currently managing assets of approximately EUR 737 million as valued at 31/12/2005. Operating in Central Europe since 1991, Orco Property Group is a public company, based in Luxembourg, and listed on both the Euronext and Prague Stock Exchange. Orco Property Group’s portfolio includes, IPB Real, MaMaison Residences, Orco Hotel Collection, Orco Real Estate, and other retail properties. Orco Property Group operates in a number of countries including, mainly, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland , Russia, Croatia, Germany and Slovakia. Orco Property Group is continually analysing investment into new territories. Orco Property Group is also sponsor and manager of the Endurance fund, a Luxembourg – regulated, closed –end fund focused on Central European real estate assets and dedicated to institutional investors controlling assets of EUR 110 million.
