Another stack o' trash with a dumbass thoughtless setback. Case in point that it doesn't have to be this way is right down the block at the the Stonehill/Taylor designed 105 W 28 where the streetwall is acknowledged and respected and a competent architect is involved.
|
A single story "arcade" at street level? Do they want to give the impression of a strip mall? Hideous.

And what do through-block building arcades (found all over Manhattan) have to do with strip malls? |

Sam Chang and Gene Kaufman should be banned from building anything else in the city.

Like all these setback towers, common sense, basic design understanding and plain good taste tells you the bizarre short sections that actually meet the streetwall should be 3-4 times as tall to look sensible and appealing, yet this cities' ridiculous DOB sky/plane rules prevent that. REFORM THE CODE NOW DAMMIT!

"Sky Exposure Plane" guidelines enforced by DOB without much thought or consideration with the practical outcomes of said guidelines, like hideous setbacks, exposed party walls of flanking structures and absurd bases.

Why the hell are there threads for all these awful awful buildings??? Throw these projects in the high rise construction thread
