I'm sure that a traffic separated cycle track on Main Street today would do a LOT better than that one did.

Those old enough have been through the bike lane and LRT struggle already. |

That's the list block on the foreground of the other side of the street (I think). So James just north of King.

The sand-coloured buildings still stand at the SE corner of James and Rebecca but are now red brick so the tan must have been some sort of paint/stucco and later removed. The stone facade of the William Thomas designed building to the left of the Lister Block and continuing hidden behind the metal siding on the Times Furniture store is currently in storage and will be reinstalled when the Artizen condominiums are built. At the far left of the picture the Mansard-roofed tower of the Tivoli Theater lobby can be seen. It was torn down after a partial wall collapse and the theater auditorium has sat unused awaiting restoration if the Tivoli Condominiums ever get built. Was that a strip plaza between the block of old buildings and the Board of Education building? (I guess that was still Park St.)

Hamilton Boys Home on Stinson at Blythe Ave. a few blocks east, which opened in 1877, was for the children of idle or dissolute parents, or of parents who were poor. The home housed about 75 boys from 5 to 14. In 1948, the city decided to close the Boys Home and put the children in foster care. The site was eventually sold to the Grisenthwaite Construction Company in 1950 for $45,000, and demolished to make way for seven apartment buildings. The Hamilton Boys Home and Central Collegiate very similar in Architecture and were only a few city blocks from each other. Central Collegiate much bigger a taller Clock Tower and a little more "Ornate". Facebook Vintage Hamilton |

The old Scott Park baseball stadium. Dig it. The mini-diamond...umm...in front of the other diamond is a little peculiar.

^^. Re the bus terminal. When my wife and I were walking to Supercrawl we walked past what must be the abandoned (?) bus terminal. You can clearly see the stalls. I'd love to know more about it. Wondering why it didn't find a new use?
