Barton and Gage, Queenston Traffic circle, and Main Street just East of Sherman (you can see the building on the corner of Main and Sherman in the distance)

Wish I could find some old pictures from my old neighbourhood - near Reid Ave. N. and Roxborough... right across from Glengrove Ave.

Thats my current neighborhood. Here's a shot I found on Hamilton Transit History:

Roxborough and Adair, looking East. I'd imagine the housing complex was freshly built when this was taken.

Wow, good eye.

For me, it was the right side of picture that shows the brick "towers" at Barnesdale Blvd..

^Terminal building! On King where the aptly named Terminal Towers now stands. Those trains ran on the old radial lines to Brant, Niagara etc. What a shame it's all gone...

I wish we still had those electric busses.

coalminecanary Aug 25, 2015 11:58 PM

or rails. what a sickening thought, all that infrastructure being torn up and never replaced

Dr Awesomesauce Aug 26, 2015 11:37 PM

^Yeah but now I can ride my bike all the way to Brantford! That's useful...

I recall riding my bike from Tuxedo Ave out there (the end of the world...:D) to meet my girlfriend at the time...memories!!! IIRC, we were just starting high school at the time, so a while back....She lived in the housing complex.

Wow, thanks for posting the photo!

King W is a pretty tragic situation, really.

Nice set of pics. I'd forgotten what had stood opposite the convention centre and Ellen Fairclough Bldg. prior to the second tower of Commerce Place being built.

One question about this photo though: Where are her feet??? :???:

Gore Park looks like it was a pile of crap before the 1990's. Looks way better now, even after all the trees had to be removed (again).

Cool 1920s photo, but there's a lot of vanished Hamilton here. The Post Office at John St. S, demolished in 1930. The Hamilton Provident & Loan Society on Hughson street demolished in 1960. The streetcar lines that helped move people around, the Terminal Building on Catharine and the list can go on.
