Hopewell Centre Top Floor Views
Once Hong Kong's tallest building until the late 1980s, Hopewell Centre has a revolving restaurant on its top floor, with a panoramic view of Hong Kong Island and beyond. The building has 64 floors and stands at 216 m tall. Since it backs a very steep slope, the rear entrance is on the 17th floor. Hopewell Holdings is currently planning to redevelop the surrounding areas with more skyscrapers.

Pencil towers lay everywhere : http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2520.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2426.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2428.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2443.jpg 7. 2 of Hong Kong's newest skyscrapers are visible in this photo : 3 Pacific Place and the new Police Headquarters. http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2427.jpg 8. Many towers try to get your attention in the Midlevels, where the rich get to see the harbour from their windows day and night. http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2438.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2448.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2449.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2455.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2517.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2458.jpg 14. As we turn east towards the middle-class residential areas on the north shores of Hong Kong Island, pencil towers emerge once again. http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2462.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2464.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2468.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2474.jpg 18. There are some pockets around the building that need redevelopment, but there is a lot of opposition from local groups who want some of the architecture preserved. Meanwhile, residents complain that the government is unable to relocate them to housing in the area. http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2477.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2519.jpg 20. If you don't want to go up to the top floor for a very cheap set lunch of HK$63, you can take the observation lift from the 17th floor rear entrance up to the 60-something/F. However, you will only see one side of the view. http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2532.jpg http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong...8/IMG_2531.jpg |

Maybe I'm missing it, but those blocks certainly don't look like they are great architectural wonders in need of preservation. Great city, though, and great pics!
