Crazy how YHZ-YYC is going to be up to 4x daily this summer, yet only 1x daily to Toronto? Mind-boggling to me.

Disappointing but better than nothing.

The ULCC are useless for business travel if you living in smaller cities. Airlines that don't do connections are pathetic in a country like Canada.

Good to see WestJet maintaining some minimum level of competition even if so minor. I do hope Porter keeps growing to fill the gap.

For W23
YYC-PHX 4x weekly
YYC-LAS daily

Both of these were previously attempted by Flair (though at AZA) so it will be interesting how they stack up against triple daily WS, daily AC and Lynx.

4 carriers on both these routes now. :bloodbath:

Confirmed they're moving to PHX: https://storage.googleapis.com/flyfl...181542cc7a.pdf

Apparently within the next few days Lynx will announce something out of YUL. Their website is now bilingual so it makes sense.

YYC-YUL rumoured. Also potentially YYZ-YUL?? If that actually happens, that would be an interesting decision. If flair couldn’t make it stick, I can’t see lynx making it stick.

They can always park on a remote stand and Lynx :notacrook: to the terminal via a mobile lounge.

I'm sure there's room to fit in a few weekly flights...until YHU opens. ;)

JakeLRS Mar 8, 2023 5:58 PM

Lynx adding

YYC-YUL - 3x weekly starting 05JUN23
YUL-YYT - 4x weekly starting 08JUN23

Depends what the timings are. Off peak, there is still room.

On a side note, that’ll be the 5th carrier on YYC-YUL, after AC, WS, TS and Flair.

YYT-YUL only has AC, so that route could use some competition.

The most enjoyable Airport in Canada. Ft McMurray,,,,,,,,,,I think not. The only reason I can see is that people are leaving McMurray.

I knew this was coming:

Quote:

Travellers looking to head to Toronto from Moncton, N.B., have one less option at the airport with WestJet confirming that as of April 30, it will no longer fly between Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport and Toronto Pearson Airport.

Officials with WestJet say the company is going in a new strategic direction and as a result, encore services between the two cities will be completely removed from their schedule.
So, the only Pearson connection to Atlantic Canada via WestJet will now be a paltry 1x daily service to Halifax Stanfield. What a joke. I think they are maintaining that only so they can continue to call themselves a "national" airline.

Moncton will have direct WestJet service to both Calgary and Edmonton, but that will be only seasonal.

There's still one n/s flight from St. John's to Toronto; leaving YYT at 7:20pm. As well, YYT has seasonal WestJet service to YYC and YEG.

This summer

Westjet will be 4x daily YHZ-YYC
Air Canada is 1x daily YHZ-YYC

5 daily flights to Calgary? How could there be that much demand to fly 5-6 hour to Calgary out of Halifax?

Westjet will also fly 2x daily YHZ-YEG

7 daily flights between Alberta and Nova Scotia must be a record

The rest of Western Canada to Halifax:

Air Canada 2x daily YHZ-YVR
Westjet 6x weekly YHZ-YVR in August.

Westjet is also 5x weekly YHZ-YWG

Swoop is shifting Orlando ops from SFB back to MCO starting in June.

YHM-MCO will run 2x weekly, down from 3.

March 7, 2023 ...Flair has based two jetliners at the regional airport. It says it will add a third in June. It planned to do this last year but delayed it. The new jetliner will bring about 50 airline-related jobs.

The Edmonton-based airline has brought about a passenger surge after Waterloo regional government gave it temporary, exclusive rights to certain routes.

Airport passengers more than doubled last year to 375,000, the most ever.

It’s estimated 600,000 passengers may use the airport this year. Regional government has in turn spent $44 million to expand the airport for more passengers.

Flair president Stephen Jones sees this as a worthwhile deal. The airline claims its presence brought $61 million to the regional economy by last December, generated by new jobs and other airport-related spending...

This is insane. I don't have a gambling addiction. Not yet.

Used AriveCan app again today going into Vancouver. Fantastic. Dedicated lane through customs as it should be.

You still have to scan you passport on the kiosk but much faster. I am going to keep using it.

Because a lot of people from Eastern Canada are moving out Western Canada to live, school or work . Some for tourism.

Plus Calgary YYC is 1 of busiest in Domestic passenger traffic every year with Toronto & Vancouver✅.

YYC is the main connection point from Western Canada to Atlantic Canada like Halifax YHZ , St Johns YYT, Charlottetown YYG & Moncton YQM every year.
