I always felt that it'd be better to building a garage under the zoo's parking lot and under the 6th avenue park and just have people walk to the park

Maybe have a shuttle for old/disabled people

Good call. Besides, they already run shuttles anyway so it would be a very minor adjustment.

I always understood the 500 ft height limit to be specifically for projects within 1.5 miles of Lindbergh, but when I checked on the distance of some projects from EV, specifically Ballpark Village, they are further away than that.

Maybe I'm wrong, but in 2016, with GPS and other major advances in aircraft technology and safety, isn't there some room for negotiation on this? I get that a number of projects being approved by Civic SD aren't even coming close to 500, but then again, this skyline could use some more height.

This height limit has been discussed and complained about here over the years on this forum, and I think most of us have given-up realizing that if it does change in our lifetimes, we will be very very old when it does. I agree with you that in east village which is further from the airport than the older parts of downtown there might be room to challenge the height limit, but it doesn't seem like the status quo - developers and politicians alike - really care to challenge it. They all seem content with the plateau skyline we are building. Maybe in like 50 years when space is much more scarce and the airport finally moves it won't be an issue anymore.

I used to be really annoyed by our stumpy skyline as well - But I kind of like our medium-density life in San Diego.

I also never got why there wasn't a shuttle from Balboa Park to Downtown. I guess it has to do with tax money somehow. :brickwall:

Thanks for the photos and welcome to the forum!! The new courthouse building bewilders me - from certain angles, especially from the side and when driving into downtown from the 5, it looks like a big, bland, boxy eyesore. From the front looking up at it with the wave motif like you captured it actually looks like a cool building. It's amazing how much different certain buildings look from different angles

There are serious plans to move the Airport to Mira Mesa? Also if the sell the Coronado Military base than Northern Coronado and the Airport site could become the Miami Beach of the West.

Voters voted it down but even if it passed it'd be hard to kick out the military.

We can only dream though...

I've been following these boards for a while now, decided to post some of my own photos as well. Originally raised in Jamul, lived in LA the past 5 years, returned in February and living aboard my boat in Point Loma. Gotta say though we have a awesome downtown and skyline. I recently had a friend from LA come visit and he said, "I always forget what a massive downtown San Diego has, it trumps LA". I think our level looking skyline makes the buildings look taller. Imagine a 900ft tower that made the rest look small.

How to insert image rather than hyperlink?

Hey everyone!

How do I paste images into my post rather than having to create a hyperlink? Assistance much appreciated. Thanks! :)

You need to put the image brackets around your hyperlink. For example: . There is a button in the posting box that does this for you. If you are posting from facebook though, you will have to find the address for the image, not the slideshow. You can get this by right clicking the picture in facebook and opening it in a new tab, and then using that URL as your hyperlink. This guide goes into more detail on posting

Hope that works, I flipped through your album, they are great pics.
