New project. I couldn't find any renderings, thus far. They are expecting ground breaking by the end of 2015... ughhh, where are the permits? Or am I confusing this project with something already existing?

I got my first tattoo at SuperFly tattoo. :haha: This sounds like an awesome project though, hopefully it gets approved and whatnot. |
Wow sounds awesome. I hope it has a nice design. I look forward to hopefully seeing this built. Looking through the architect's website it looks like these buildings should be very nice.

Lolz. The UT has this on the front page of their website:

The Spreckels Building will be converted to residential. There's also the possibility that it could have more units over the parking garage. http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/...ate-rent-life/

Same developer (Zephyr Partners) is planning this nice infill development at 6th and Palm in Bankers Hill:

Edit: SDfan beat me to it. It looks nice though and I hope the density continues in Bankers Hill.

Architectural renderings for the 6th & Palm project, maybe?

Looks nice I hope that is the design. Also, it seems this is the site of that dumpy midrise next to the Abbey.

Hopefully downtown continues this trend at least through the next few years and we get some office high-rises built. http://www.hughesmarino.com/hughes-m...own-san-diego/

When I was downtown yesterday I drove by Bosa's sales center at Horizons and they were cleaning out the old stuff from Bayside which is hopefully a sign of things to come.

Wow lots of good news so now the Broadway corridor will have two sets of twin towers right next to eachother... Kind of weird but oh well.
What is up with Stadium View Tower? Anyone know the start date on that? I have also noticed a couple of historic office buildings downtown just sitting there rotting instead of being converted to residential. You would think with all the success that LA had in their historic core with conversions that our down here would all be completed as well. Spoon: I too am surprised they are tearing down and 8 floor building, when was the last time that happened in SD other than to make way for the Federal Courthouse? It seems like there are enough empty lots in Bankers hill to fill in before you would think about demoing an structure over 3 or 4 floors. |
I drove by Stadium View yesterday but unfortunately there was no sign of any activity.

I like what Faulconer is proposing on the housing front. I hope his policies are progressive in this area and we get some progress. Hopefully we can get the height limit removed in midway district as Fulton has hinted about.

As others have said, the new Broadway and C project will transform that area between the Gaslamp, Financial District, and East Village. Thanks to this project and a couple other current projects, there will be no real break in high rises from the Bay to the Smart Corner station. |

Re: "This developer is tearing down a functioning 8 story building to construct a 13 floor building, which looks to have less square footage". That building is at 2850 Sixth, just up the street from me and is ugly as hell. Currently being used as a school, but I suspect most of the building is vacant. Formerly a medical building. Super ugly when viewed from the fifth street site. This project will be a huge improvement, IMO.
