YUL folks, Iron Maiden's 747 Ed Force One is scheduled to arrive today from JFK. ETA 1503.

It looks like KLM is not operating the 747 on the YYZ route this summer, I checked the scheds and it is a mix of 787-900 and 777-200. Not a major edit, but still

KLM will be using the 747 combi on certain flights to CYYZ throughout the summer. Mostly on the second flight of the day, (KLM695), although some of those will also be operated by B772.

Looks like Bruce was the pilot flying, as he wasn't on the comms.

Prices for flights to and from YMM and YYC have gone up in price considerably. I still work and live in Fort McMurray and have avoided flying down to YYC due to the increase in ticket prices.

The economy definitely had a huge negative effect, but a lot of the empty seats on flights are the result of the double whammy of low oil prices and the airlines charging higher ticket prices to the workers who have all pretty much eaten a 20%+ cut to their yearly earnings.

For short haul flights from YMM the airlines are still gouging the people who need to fly, only nowadays it has become a lot harder for those people to actually afford it.

Bruce just called for the clearance to Pearson.

Clearance changed his squawk code to 0666. He`s having a hard time finding the first point in his amended flight plan. (BOBKI). He imputed the LAT & LONG coordinates instead.

Coming into Pearson he was followed by ACA667. Not sure if Terminal did that purposefully or not, but it amused me nonetheless.

It's about time people stop flying in and out of Ft McMurray to work. They should be living in Ft McMurray.

Nice! One 747 I'd like to see up close - not a huge fan of the band - but the plane :)

Most fly in/fly out people are gone. People who remain working in Fort McMurray are mostly permanent residents. People do occasionally like to travel to visit friends or family or to simply get to a proper city with actual amenities. Fort McMurray is a shocking place for amenities and services when you take into account the actual population. We have a phenomenal rec center, and that is about it. Our single movie theater is archaic, Peter Pond Mall is an absurd joke, the 2 golf courses are poor, our dining options pretty much peak at Original Joes, the Keg or a Seafood Buffet in a hotel.

I think the only commercial fly in fly out left might be for the Brion project which is rapidly winding down.

Fort Hills, CNRL Horizon - plus all of the operators and maintenance still have a good chunk who fly in/out

Ed Force One touched down in Vancouver on the weekend.

YVR finally released their Feb numbers and yet another crazy month out west. Even with the 3.6% increase in numebrs due to leap-day the growth is very strong:
Asia, Europe and Misc (sun flying) all up over 15%.

I was down at YEG to get some shots of Ed Force one when a couple of flights came down from CNRL Friday. Plus my trips into YMM always have Fly in from around the country. AC still has flights to YVR and YYZ.

Seems like UA will be cutting ORD-YXU come July. First EWR, and now Chicago. Not good for Londoners.

So YXU will join the ever growing list of stations closed by UA in Canada in the last 2 years.....

What's behind that? I have to admit I'm a bit concerned given that YWG is one of the smaller remaining UA stations left in Canada... losing it would be a real blow.
